if you are in Hakone for only one day. I recommend to get to Togedai and join the cruise to cross the lake. the boats are pirate ship and the inside looks amazing. it's quite big, there are 2 inside decks and 2 outside decks. Price is 1050¥ or add 500 for the first class. but honestly, the second class is very well too. it takes about 30 minutes to cross the lake and choose between 2 final destinations to finish your tour. you can see mount Fuji from the second half of the lake.

Makes me sad that the ONLY day we were able to do sightseeing - it was rainy and foggy! We didn't get to enjoy the sightseeing. However, we did enjoy the cruise and inside seating area. There's a snack shop and you can eat while you're on the cruise.The cruise runs between Moto-Hakone, Hakone-machi, and Togendai Ports. The cruise is included with your Hakone Free Pass. Make sure you follow the maps and pay attention to your time because you don't want to be "stuck" without a ride home. (Meaning, make sure you're reading the signs for last boarding and etc)

The outer appearance of Hakone Sightseeing Cruise might seem contrast with the calm atmosphere of the whole Lake Ashiko. However, while on board, that theme doesn’t matter anymore because in about 30 minute’s ride that allows passengers crossing Lake Ashi from Togendai to Hakone-machi Station and vice versa, everyone would be spoiled with the beautiful scenery of Lake Ashiko and its surrounding. 30 minutes of relaxation and breathing the fresh and clean air. At the same time, watch your north direction closely because you might see the great Mount Fuji which is able to enhance the beauty of the landscape around you.

The cruise runs between Moto-Hakone Port, Hakone-machi Port and Togendai Port. You can go on the cruise with Hakone freepass. For me, it's too cold to stand outside in the winter. So freezing.
