Tea Jiao Temple/Tagao Temple is now being restored by China in aid of maintenance. The Chajiao Temple was built around 1000 A.D. by Jayavarman V, Kingdom of Zhenla. The temple does not seem to have been completed, because all the stones piled up are still in the rough original appearance, and there is no decoration on it. Archaeologists have discussed the reasons why it did not continue to be completed. Some people think that it was wrong to choose too hard stones to carve on them, so it retained its original state; another view is that it was in the construction process. After being struck by lightning, the dynasty considered it an ominous omen and stopped building. Anyway, the most important significance of this temple in archaeology is that it proves that the size of the ancient city of Angkor was built in the way of "stacking first, carving later".
