This was our second visit as the location is perfect. It is close to bus stops, the cathedral area and a pedestrianised shopping street.there is a taxi rank right opposite. On the doorstep are a couple of nice cafes, an ice cream parlour, two great German bakeries and even a Subway and a McDonalds for those who want something familiar. The rooms are a good size with a good shower and lovely neroli and bergamot liquid soap and shampoo dispensers. The air conditioning is efficient - some might find it noisy but it’s a white noise which didn’t bother us. The quilts are really think so we took ours out of the cover and just used that as our stay coincided with the Sept heatwave. There is a kettle and sachets in the room which we gratefully made use of. Breakfast was great. We didn’t have any of the hot food but the cold meats and cheeses were a good selection and the breads were nice. The fruit salad was excellent and the latte coffee from the machine very good. Ordinary coffee was available on the tables but the machine offered cappuchino, latte etc. The tea wasn’t so good - great choice again, but any Uk based person going for the English Breakfast option will be disappointed. We saw a little bar area but it never appeared to be open - we were there mid-week in Sept, so maybe it’s a peak season/weekend thing. The staff were friendly and our request for an extra pillow each was met immediately. This is the place we will always try to book when coming to Aachen
I spent three nights at the Hotel Regence, Aachen, in March 2024. I took a Queen Room on the fourth floor, which was fine for a short break. The multi-lingual staff were excellent, attentive, engaged and professional. Although the hotel does not offer an evening restaurant service, the staff recommended an Italian restaurant in town for supper. The hotel breakfast buffet was superb. Wifi is available throughout the hotel. I would happily stay in this hotel again.
The hotel was not geared up for a coach party 1). Each time the driver had problems accessing the Carpark, non space for coach to manoeuvre 2). For meals we were herded into a room not suitable to seat a coach party, 48 of us were squashed in; it got very tight, noisy, hot and claustrophobic. On the 2nd morning my partner wasn’t feeling well, so we sat at a table in main restaurant; a waitress told us to move, as these seats were for paying guests only. We asked her what we were and she just told us to move. She was extremely rude. 3). After the evening meals we tried to move out to the seating area around bar and reception, but most were reserved. They allowed us to sit at table in main restaurant. None of this reserved seating was used by anyone all evening. On the second evening the seating was all reserved again; we asked at the bar if someone was actually going to use it that evening; to be told it was all reserved to give privacy to a couple each evening booked in for a romantic diner. One of our party sat at one of the reserved seating and a lady bar staff went over to the table, banged her fists on the table and said get up you can’t sit here. Again extremely rude. The bar manager explained the hotel policy to us, he was the only friendly staff. 4). The choice of food was limited and very bland, ran out most times.
Great hotel, very clean and friendly Staff! We stayed two nights and felt very relaxed and the hotel is quiet as well. We wanted to have quick acces to Aachen and as well the highway - good solution for people going to Spa race circuit as we did!
It was great to be able to visit again and be welcomed by the staff again after two years. The hotel is always a great place to stay and has a great location. The staff always ensure you enjoy your stay. I use the hotel as an overnight stay when visiting Spa for race meetings. We will be back again next year.
