It was fine. Yes, the decor in the rooms probably hasn't been updated in thirty years, but that's not what matters. It was clean (no mold as stated in some reviews), the air conditioning works, the lobby was nice, and the employees at the front desk were very helpful- including watching my luggage in the morning before I was allowed to check in. You cannot beat this location, especially if taking the circular tourist bus that runs from the train station is something you plan on.
The room is just enough for one person, which is what I usually had in Japan. Refrigerator, kettle and other amenities are provided, which is great. The proximity to the train station is a definite plus. Food and shopping opportunities are all around. Some minus: only one lift/elevator, and a small breakfast room which gets very crowded at certain times.
