We have just checked out of the Playacálida after a truly wonderful 5 days. We travelled as a family from England and had the best time. Our room was lovely and quiet with a stunning view of the sea, beds made up each day. The pools are amazing and so much fun for the kids (aged 12 and 9). Food was lovely. Infinity pool was out of this world with spectacular views!! Staff very friendly. We also visited the spa and children are allowed in at certain times- we all loved it. Have recommended to friends already and we will certainly not hesitate to return to this hotel, can’t wait to come back! Thank you

This was a return stay at the Playacalida after staying last year. Once again a fantastic relaxing stay, hotel was spotless, food good - always able to find something and majority of it delicious. After reading other reviews we have to disagree and say staff were all friendly and helpful in both pool bar and restaurant. They did not show any preference for serving Spanish guests first. The kids love the pools but the infinity and lazy river were very cold, maybe it's just the time of year. We would definitely stay again and would recommend if you want a holiday just to relax. If you want action packed this is probably not the place for you unless youre willing to hire a car and drive around.

We found hotel staff not very friendly although one guy in bar and the lady at pool was. We had items stollen from poolside to include my grandaughters crocs. My room key constantly didn’t work and long walk to reception to get programmed. Had to buy water and all drinks at hotel as no local shop or kettle in room. Hotel is in a remote spot with steep hill to beach. Infinity pool was lovely and room was nice.

This was our second stay at Playacalida. We loved it so much the first time we wanted to come back. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are friendly. Pools are amazing. Food is good. The hotel is heavily catered to the French guests who can then come across as having an attitude of superiority over other guests, especially when all the staff speak to them fluently in French and they will push in front of you at the buffet. I'm of the opinion that we are in Spain and an effort should be made to speak Spanish which is what my partner and myself did. It can take away the experience of being in Spain, however, I realise that it is a big industry to have the French tourism and it is not a reflection on the hotel itself. We explored further into Almuñécar. There is a bus stop 10 minutes from the hotel which will take you there for €1. You can also walk down to the main ***** in about 20 minutes where there are bars and restaurants. This is an untouched, authentic part of Spain and it was refreshing to not be surrounded by other tourists from the UK. Overall, we loved staying at Playacalida again and will visit Almuñécar again in the future.

Good food quality (we did B&B but friends we met said AI was great). A little chaotic at busy times… but nothing concerning. Paid for lunch options were limited… but enough to see you through a week. There’s not much in the local area. You’d need to drive (we did… parking was free on-street and difficult to find spaces, but just took an extra few mins, not really a big deal) or a take a €10 taxi. There were about 3 walkable restaurants. 2 good/great, 1 “meh”. Several pool options which was good. Though the outdoor pools are on the cold side. Fine for kids playing in but you won’t want to spend long in it as an adult! Multiple large hot-tubs though which was good. Never had a problem getting a sun lounger (or 4!) which was amazing! Lots of entertainment. Primarily geared towards non-English speakers - but English is catered for. Clean, good quality rooms. Overall good value. Would I stay again? No, unlikely (prefer to have more options to eat out rather than AI experience) Would I recommend to friends/family? Yes.

What amazing time my sin and I had. The hotel is amazing the staff where very friendly. Our rooms where perfect. We stayed on bed and breakfast. The food was lovely We were spoilt for choice. Highly recommended this hotel. My son is austic and he finds it hard with other people but the staff were very friendly and made my son feel at ease. Justwant to say thank you.

We stayed at the hotel from 6th - 10th May and reading some of the other reviews, I wonder if they stayed in the same hotel. When we arrived there was an issue with our booking (holiday company's fault not the hotel) and they were amazing, made sure we had everything we needed, upgraded our room and made us feel welcome. The hotel is situated quite a way from other places but for us (myself and my 11 year old) it was perfect as we just wanted peace and quiet. There is a park nearby which we walked through to reach a lovely cafe and a small shop. The hotel is spotless and the staff are lovely (whether you are English or not!) yes some of the food isn't to my taste but I was never hungry and the fresh salads, breads etc were amazing. The pool area is gorgeous, infinity pool is fantastic as well as the lazy river and the indoor pool is decent too. As we were leaving early on friday we were offered breakfast but I had already arranged for something else. In conclusion....this is not a party hotel, this is a place to go to relax/chill out and enjoy being away from home. The service we received was fantastic.
