ホテル ファロス デル スール(Hotel Faros del Sur)

We stayed here for our last night on Chiloe because we wanted to be positioned closer to the ferry that we would be taking to start our sojourn North on in the morning. The common rooms and the grounds are spectacular, but the room we were given was very minimalistic, with a long skinny shower. While everything worked it was not the kind of place we would have stayed in for more than one night. It is clean but not as comfortable and nice as the common areas are.

Our jaws dropped as we walked into our room. We had panoramic views of the sea and coastline from two enormous windows with two lovely modern chairs to watch the birds, the waves & dolphins. The building is a 5 star if it were maintained. Our room was spotless & beautifully decorated from crisp white linens to cream woven additions. However, the bathtub had been filled into make a shower that I know many people would not be able to climb up & into safely. We had record high temperatures & the room was warm. It also meant the doors to empty rooms were open and although smaller than our room, all were lovely with one big picture window on to the sea. There were 3 hot tubs on the deck below us with a missing safety rail & not accessible to guests - a shame. The biggest flaw is the breakfast & it is truly terrible. Coffee machine had old COLD coffee. There was instant on the table & hot water. “Fruit salad” was just inedible old & we suspected they blended leftovers for the “juice”. Meat & cheese on same plate so if you are a vegetarian - tough. 2 rolls each - no toast or eggs. They do provide warm milk, but sadly with some work on the breakfast this could be a much sought after hotel. They cater to groups that stop for one night. Parking available & signs all over Ancud make it easy to find. Little changes could make this Very popular with tourists and one of the better hotels in the region.

El hotel en si es lindo, pero muy poco personal en la cocina y en todo el hotel (vi a 3 personas Maximo). El primer día de desayuno ya no quedaba fruta, ni café cuando llegamos a sentarnos y la respuesta fue “esto pasa todos los días “ de mala forma. Desayuno insuficiente para el precio del hotel. No hay recepcionista permanente. El baño no tiene secador de pelo, estanque con poca presión, jabonera en ducha mala y falta algo para colgar y secar toallas, ropa u otros (siempre llueve) . La vista es hermosa, quizás eso le gana a varias falencias, pero por el precio es mejor dejarlo aquí para que lo consideren.
