I wish I had something to compare this to in the same area but it was our first time on the Great Ocean Road. Overall, we really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this place during the ”off-season”. We were here in April which is early Fall. Basically this is a group of small buildings made into cottages a block from the beach. Each one is unique I think. They made arrangements for an early check-in by leaving the keys in an envelope in the door of the office. Thank you so much! We stayed in the front cottage (I forget the name now) but it had parking, a large main room with a bed, sitting area, and a large luxurious tub which I loved using. There's a fridge, and the AC doubles as a heater which we used because we were chilly. The bed also had a heated mattress pad to turn on and make you cozy. Across the street is a supermarket where you can but all your snacks, wine, and what-have-you. Would certainly stay here again, but did notice some cottages on the beach which might beckon us to try next time? One good thing about his location is you are very near all the restaurants and cafes.

My wife and I recently stayed one night at the Sandpiper Motel, Apollo Bay in a King Room with Hill View (and you could glimpse the ocean from the verandah). I would classify the motel as a typical Australian rural motel. The room was on the first floor and was very spacious and included a microwave, plates and cutlery. The bed was comfortable. There is a free guest laundry with a washing machine and dryer which can be used by guests from 08:00 to 22:00. The hotel still uses individual soaps and shampoos (rather than dispensers) and includes a smart bathroom mirror. An interesting touch is that all the linen is monogrammed with the hotel's name. Prior to check in you are sent a text advising of your room number and the room key is collected from an envelope (with your name on it) placed outside the reception area, so we had no interaction with reception staff. At $122 for the night we thought the Sandpiper Motel was good value and would be happy to return. TC

Newly renovated. Modern, spacious rooms ( more like a little cottage). Extremely spacious with a kitchen and very large bathroom. A desk, a kitchen table and 2 comfortable chairs with coffee table. Would be able to stay a week or more without a problem. There is also a guest BBQ area. Staff lovely too.

Very nice sea view along great ocean road. Theres Alpaca's and sheep along the road leading upwards. Property will send an email regarding check in but it was sent to trip.com email and we didnt receive it. Remember to check with trip.com for these check in emails.

We had a house layout for our family stay, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living and dining room. A very cosy setup and very smart details, like heating lights in the toilet (it gets very cold in winter and the nice warm lights in toilet helps with the cold). The beds come with heating pads as well which is a great surprise. The kitchen was very well furnished and we love the warm lightings in the house. Great decorations in the house, makes me want to do the same for my own place. Just a very cosy, welcoming place to stay. Great for family want to stay more than 1 night. Location is at Apollo Bay town and just across the beach. Near eateries and groceries. The place is so welcoming that you simply want to cook and eat with the family. The Apollo Apartments in Apollo Bay is a fantastic place to lay your head for the night. All of the apartments are fully self contained. Close to pubs, restaurants and shops and the beautiful Apollo Bay Beach across the road There is onsite parking available underneath the units. There is a lift if you have trouble using stairs. The staff never mentioned it though and just said where the stairs were. If you have issues using stairs this may not be the best place to stay if the lift was not available. Overall it was great value and a very nice and tidy apartment. You could easily base yourself here and do all of the Great Ocean Road touristy things.

We really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. Gerard was an excellent, welcoming, helpful host with lots of stories and suggestions about the local area. Our room was lovely and clean, with a very nice en suite bathroom with a good shower. The room had a small table and chairs. The linens and toiletries were quite nice. There is a small closet area where the kettle was located which was convenient. Our room had a small outside patio which we did not use due to the weather. The common area was spacious and comfortable with a large living room/ diner with loads of furniture where you can hang out. The kitchen was spotless. Guests serve themselves breakfast – coffee [there is ground coffee and a French Press], juice, yogurt, fruit, lots of different kinds of breads and spreads for toast, cheese, etc. There was more than enough for a convivial breakfast with the other interesting guests and Gerard. For dinner, it is a short walk into Apollo Bay, with a fair number of places to choose from.

What a great find! The hotel is really very well located, with free parking available. Reception is very friendly and helpful with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. The room is clean, spacious and tastefully furnished. The beds are comfortable. I find the management very thoughtful for eg. there's a beaker of water placed in the fridge to keep it cold and also empty glasses in the fridge to ensure that you really have cold water! Free wifi is also available! This is a good surprise considering that we had just come from a 4 and a half star resort which charges for wifi! The only complaint I have is that there is rubbish collection very early in the morning and the truck collecting the rubbish wakes us up at around 6.30 am. Otherwise the place is really quiet and yet walking distance to eateries.
