Stayed earlier in year and was disappointed in food but decided to give hotel another chance to redeem itself.First issue was accessing our room as keycard wouldn’t work so after going to reception the man came up to change batteries in door but this took so long so was allocated another room,103 which had room overlooking nearby housing scheme so not the best .Hotel restaurant was very quiet for a Sunday evening so expected quick service but were so wrong.Ordered meal and waited 25 minutes for starter of pate and prawn/salmon starter,prawns weren’t cold so could tell plate had been lying out too long before service.Heard 4 tables around us being apologised to due to length of wait and actually felt sorry for staff having to do this as it’s not there fault.Main of braised beef nice but veg very overcooked,potato you could tell was plated first on plate as started to dry out so had skin on it and other meal chicken was tough.Personally I don’t understand why the food gets great reviews going by the last 2 visits and especially the amounts of times the server had to apologise to nearby tables as restaurant was half empty.Overall beautiful hotel and grounds but after this visit won’t be back.
