So happy I only booked for the one night. When I did checkin I was told that it was impossible for me to have made the booking as they were fully booked already, despite me having prepaid. Eventually got a room. The hotel had a teeny tiny tv with no options. There wasn’t even water left in the room. The room looks like it was decorated in the 90s and never updated. Didn’t even bother with breakfast cause I just wanted to get out. Not what I was expecting at this price point.

Review for Hotel My wife and I, along with our son and now wife stayed for 9 nights at the Protea at Durbanville during our stay in Cape Town. Our son got married not far from the hotel. Our daughter in law is the only South African in the group, and we have never traveled outside of the United States. If we could describe one thing that made our stay at this hotel perfect, it would be the staff. We have never been to a hotel that had such friendly staff that Protea at Durbanville had during our stay. From the front desk workers, restaurant staff, to the housekeeping crews, they were all super accommodating and made us feel so welcome. The staff was also super involved in our stay, cheering us on as the wedding day approached and congratulated us on the day. One staff member that really made a difference for us was Vincent. Vincent really took the time to get to know us and we really appreciated his hospitality. The porter was all extremely friendly and helpful. The entire staff and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out so will not name names. We highly recommend this hotel.

Great service and the rooms are awesome! Breakfast is delicious! Good value for money. The only thing I would criticise is the smoke fire alarm going off at 1am when you’re preparing for Two Oceans Marathon! Please service the alarms as well as have emergency procedures in place too. Irrespective of the alarm was activated by mistake or not.

I was asking for a silent room and they placed me in a room amongst families with children having some family celebration, everyone shouting in the middle of the night, and staff not doing anything about it. Children screaming and crying from 05:00 in the morning. There was a terrible smell in my bathroom and I mentioned it every day. The first 2 days they tried to fix it and when they failed to fix it, they suddenly said that there was no bad smell… I do NOT recommend and I shall not go that hotel again, they are not living up to what is expected from a Mariott hotel

What a great hotel. Amazing friendly welcome on arrival day and during the stay from the lady at reception. The rooms are super spacious. Everything you need for a good night rest and relaxing time. Breakfast is available with a big selection of eggs and pastries. Very relaxing a**osphere. Inside and outside seating. Was a nice relaxing stay. Will highly recommend the hotel,staff, and location

We booked a colleague into the hotel. We had to leave a day before our original check out time. The still charged us for the next day, despite that we have stayed there several times before and a regular patrons. We will now take our business elsewhere.

Quiet, homely and beautiful hotel away from the hustles and bustles of the city. Staff are warm and caring. Rooms are the perfect size for a vacation.

Marriott is losing its customer centricity, it seems to be a global phenomenon. It has become a common observation. I have had better experiences with other hotel chains atleast in this year.
