We are a family of 4 who has stayed at this property 3 times during February vacation week. Once in February 2020, just before Covid, in Feb. 2022 and Feb 2023. We had a wonderful experience in 2020, but the resort has failed to restore all services and amenities from pre-Covid times. There is no longer a restaurant or bar at the Bretton Arms Inn; you must travel up to the main hotel. Which while annoying, we were wiling to deal with for one more year while they try to get staff. However, the food at the restaurants at the main hotel is terrible and service is excruciatingly slow. We were traveling with a large group of extended family and everyone thought the food was inedible. It was so bad, all 18 of us opted to get takeout pizza our last night and ate in the abandoned restaurant at the Bretton Arms. It's really too bad, because the food was wonderful in 2020 and 2022. The entire resort is understaffed, and looks run down. There is no longer valet service at the Bretton Arms (or the main hotel), no bellhop to help unload/load your luggage and skis. Shuttle service is running at a reduced capacity, which resulted in a 30 minute wait at the ski area for a shuttle back to the hotel. There is no longer hot apple cider, coffee/tea and cookies in the lobby of the Bretton Arms as in years past. The rooms are in need of serious updating, the "new" outdoor pool looks rundown and has multiple areas around the pool deck where decorative cement is crumbling and missing. All the hallmarks of a luxury ski vacation have been taken away from this resort. It has been running on a shoestring for nearly 3 years and it shows. The resort had far fewer guests this year than in years past, so I think the cuts to service and amenities are starting to push people away. We have loved staying here in years past, but will be booking elsewhere next year.
