Stayed here on March 16th. We were in town to attend the Journey concert. At approximately 5:30am, the fire alarm went off. It was a loud screeching alarm. We were advised over an intercom to evacuate the property. It was rainy and cold and we waited outside for over an hour. We were finally advised to go back to our rooms. After getting back to sleep, we were again awakened by the smoke alarm at 10:00am. We weren't going to go stand outside again, so we gathered our belongings and left the hotel. I sent an email to Marriott customer service asking for a partial refund or some Marriott points for our inconvenience. As of this date (March 29th), I have not heard back from them. I've been a Marriott customer for many years. Very disappointed in their poor customer service!
Exceptional! Wow! The Westin Buffalo is the nicest hotel we ever stayed at. We originally went to Niagara Falls but it was a horrible experience. I called the Westin Buffalo and from the minute Nadine took the phone call until check out we were treated like kings. This hotel is immaculate! The decor is gorgeous. Very clean. Great food and coffee. We plan to continue our stays with Westin for future trips. Thank you Nadine and all of the exceptional staff.
GGo712141Personally, I found this place to be regrettable and not worth what I paid, which was nearly $500 for one person for one night. (I was later told something about ”surge rates.”) Before getting ti the hotel, I went online and saw that rooms were a little over $200 on multipletravel booking sites. But when I get to the hotel, the front desk person, who was less than cordial, tells me that the only room they have is over $400. Now, I had traveled far to get there, it was raining, and I was exhausted, but I asked her again if there was anything else and she told me no, they were booked. Now, mind you, this was Buffalo on a Monday night. So, I reluctantly took the room because that's all they had, she said. I get to the room and there's crumbs all over the table and chairs and there's a strange stain on the bathroom door. I thought it'd be a little bit tidier for room that's over $400. The whole experience is nothing special. So, then when I call back the next day because I checked the websites again and all the travel sites say the rooms are a little over $200, I'm told that they have ”surge rates” or ”surge pricing” -- whatever that is! -- and that they were fully booked on a Monday in Buffalo. So, the whole thing was just an unfortunate and regrettable experience, and I never would stay there again, especially when I get my bill and a one-night stay for one person was nearly $500. Then when I checked out, the check out was just as unfriendly as when I checked in. Very bizarre experience for a Marriott Hotel.
Good experience in the hotel itself. However, I was blown away by the service I received from Phil Johnson, during the dinner on the night of November 4, 2023. He went out of his way to accommodate my dietary preferences, when there was no other option for me. He told me that the vegan dish that he made for me was his first attempt, and it was delicious. While I might be biased, I can say it looked way more appetizing than what the other guests were served! My hats off to Mr. Johnson, who also wouldn't accept a tip from me, instead advising me to leave a positive review for the benefit of the entire establishment. On top of all of this, he kept checking in on me, asking me about my dietary restrictions, and did this all because all of the chefs/cooks had gone home, leaving him to fend for himself. Imagine being so dedicated to your craft and your employer, that you sacrifice your own time and decline a monetary tip just to serve the clientele. I was absolutely blown away by this experience, and I do hope for the best for Mr. Phil Johnson.
