Me and my daughter loved Madingley Hall, and the beautiful grounds. We knew about the location before we booked, so we knew it is a 15 minute taxi-ride to the centre. An excellent breakfast is included - for diner you usually have to go out. Definitely book if you are looking for a beautiful country estate, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, beautiful lawns to relax on and some peace from the busy city of Cambridge!

The rooms are fairly basic, but the location is exceptionally beautiful and of historic interest.

One night stay for business. Good breakfast. Room was ok (single) nothing fancy but nice and warm.

Beautiful location very convenient for visiting Cambridge city centre. Room was very nice but not what I’d term a superior room Decent breakfast.

Excellent stay gardens lovely. Easy access to park and ride. Local pub restaurant within walking distance.

It was tremendous value. Although student accommodation it was as expected. Very interesting venue. Glad we stayed there

Great for a one night work stop. Could perhaps do with a few more dinner options. A little worn around the edges but nothing bad, all nice and clean.

Beautiful building and lands. But, I'm afraid that's where it ended for us. When we booked there was 'restaurant' listed but when we asked about it we were sent to the bar area of the hotel which only did bar snacks - not what we were expecting at all. Luckily we found the Three Horseshoes across the road and although on the pricey side the meals were lovely. Breakfast was included in our two night package and the first day it was fine. The second morning was very poor. The coffee machine broke down and after someone tried to mend it and failed a pot of coffee was brought out which was soon emptied and taken away never to be seen again. The hot food was cold - not even mildly cold - and the times we had to ask for plates/bread/butter etc . . . We also feel we should have been told before we booked that the hotel didn't have their heating on before November as we had to sit in our rooms in our coats for warmth.

Excellent as always, lovely breakfast. Always a pleasure to stay here and it's just so close to the University too.

No heating despite the cold spell. We were told it was university policy not to put on central heating until November. What a silly way to determine when heating should be on. If we had known earlier we would have cancelled our stay. On this occasion I was disappointed the room was not cleaned throughly; it was superficially cleaned but there was long standing dust and dirt over the radiators and the telephone. Very poor experience which is unlike what we had experienced on previous stays

Lovely building in beautiful grounds. As it says this is not a hotel, it’s more like university student accommodation; simple but acceptable. The issue for me was cleanliness. It was quite dusty and needed vacuuming. A little more care and attention and this would be good.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and facade to the building the rooms are clean and comfortable Breakfast was delicious and varied highly highly recommend

It was ok, single room offered the basics well. TV was small and could only be viewed if you were in the bathroom. Lovely building. Little or no water pressure with a very very sensitive hot/cold dial. Pretty noisy, every time someone in a room near by goes in or out the doors bang loudly. Great staff and food and drink was good in the evening. Breakfast was basic and in the galley layout, which was novel.
