Our family had a blast here. We were a little unsure at first as our cabin was not equipped with really much at all. No towels and the shower did not work and it was a difficult spot to charge our golf cart at night. There was a lot to do though, and we loved toodling around on the golf cart, there were a lot of activities for the kiddos including bingo, a nice little park, hiking trails, a pool, they had a lollipop hunt, crafts, and a foam ride and more. We made smores one night and it's close to KC but far out enough you feel like you're in the country. The staff were wonderful here and so helpful! We made a lot of wonderful memories.

I reserved the lodge for my birthday weekend for my family and I . First location is great but the lodge is dirty and broken down furniture was broke in the dining area so we couldn’t sit at the table together. They have a mouse problem mice turds all over the kitchen. The microwave didn’t work. The downstairs smelled like cat pee. The yard wasn’t mowed around the area. They charge extra for the golf cart when your staying in the lodge which is across the street and up the hill from the pool and all activities. I tried to talk to the lady as I was leaving and she rushed me out of there. Over all for the money they charge for that place don’t do it.

Our cabin (50A) was in need of a deep cleaning (cobwebs up the rafters, mildew in spots in bathroom, floor needed mopping, carpet in sleeping loft needed shampooed) and some repairs. The shower stall door would not stay closed, so we had to rig up a system of one person getting in the shower and then another person wedging the door shut with a broom handle, and then letting the person out of the shower when they were done. A more dangerous repair need was the grate over a heating vent in living area floor was damaged, with sharp edges and a hole that our 6-year-old almost stepped into. We ended up putting something over it so that no one would cut themselves or twist an ankle. It was also interesting that they emphasized that campers needed to clean their cabin before checking out and that they charge a cleaning fee if Basswood staff have to clean the cabin. When we checked in to our cabin, the floor needed swept, the stove had food crumbs & grease spots, and there were birthday sprinkles all over the table. Clearly the previous guests had not cleaned up after themselves and no one at the resort bothered to check it and/or clean up after them. The A/C units had also not been turned on in advance of our arrival, so when we got to the cabin around 5 pm, it was almost 90 degrees inside of it. It took several hours of the A/C units running full blast before the temperature inside the cabin became tolerable. We did enjoy having a grill and a fire pit and made use of them more than once during our stay. Our kids thought sleeping in the loft was a fun adventure and we appreciated having a separate sleeping space from the kids (which we wouldn't have gotten in a hotel). The screened in porch was a nice place for the adults to have coffee before the kids woke up. We picked Basswood over a vacation rental because of the various activities (arts & crafts, live music, outdoor movies, etc.) that we thought we would do when we weren't doing outings. Unfortunately, a lot of the activities took place during the daytime or early evening when we were still out and about in KC, so we didn't get to enjoy any of them. We were able to enjoy the pool and playground/jump pad area a few evenings. We didn't explore the grounds, but what we did see when we were driving in & out every day appeared to be fairly well-maintained. Our cabin was located a fair distance from most of the amenities and we were on the very end of a lane, so it was quiet and peaceful in our area. The location made it fairly easy to access the Interstate to go in to KC proper for outings. Overall, our stay was just okay. There were some definite areas for improvement (especially in the cabin itself) but it otherwise suited its purpose. I don't think we'll be back, but mostly because we've learned that we don't really need a lot of amenities/activities since we spend so little time in our lodging.

We stayed here twice so far on our way to our destination for vacation. Both times were great. Nice level spots. Tons of shade. Great pool and activities for the kids. Hiking trails. Playground. Ponds. Highly recommend.

Budget Price, budget accommodation. Super clean and spacious room, but worn furniture. Television service is Roku and other subscription type - no live feeds that i could find, but i'm not very techy. Check in was fine despite only one person managing desk, restaurant, and commissary. Be aware that there could be an extra charge if you show up a little bit earlier than the published check in time. I stayed in one of the jacuzzi rooms facing the lake and below the office. there is a regular shower and bathtub in the room as well. Parking was below the rooms and required steps up to reach the room.

We checked in to deluxe cabin early Sept. The cabin was very dirty. Gritty floors, cob webs, dirty shower, dirty deck. Out site was so close to rv site we could not park or have a fire. Family members had a tent site that had so many tree stumps (1ft) tall that there was not room for a tent and table. Road was very rutted and washed out. This is a beautiful property but very expensive ( $60) for basic tent site that wasn't cleared. No elect or water. It's pretty obvious they aren't interested in quality of experience but only squeezing dollars out. The money would be understandable if the place was well maintained . Very disappointed. Would not recommend.

If you have an RV and children, this would be great place for you! It has so many great family activities, the grounds are very nice and it has many amenities. There area is also very pretty. It had lovely trees and a pond/lake...it had nice views! The staff was very friendly! We had no issues with anyone we met. The best thing about our room was the nice little patio area across from it. It had 4 chairs and a fire pit. The room was very large. It had a king size bed and pull out couch. It had a nice little kitchette area, with a second sink, and a large area to hang clothes. Unfortunately, the room and furnishings were pretty worn. There was a large gap between the door and frame. The carpet was stained in several places. The tables also had stains and were chipped. The sheets had staining on them. The towels were very cheap, great if you forgot to bring a loofah. The bathroom floor was very sticky, and a wrapper had been left behind the door. Again, I think this would be great for an RV and kids, but not the best place for a romantic getaway.
