Loverly hotel with great staff. Breakfast superb, rooms superb and comfortable and great bathroom. Location excellent to walk to and around Cascais with local bars and restaurants 5 minutes away. Plus free parking. Remarkably old building that has a lot of history. Excellent.

This was a lovely stay in a very beautiful and historic building - the hosts are charming and do a great job of making you feel at home. They are also a mine of information on the local area - what to do and where to go as well as what to avoid. We had a huge and airy room with amazing views out of the windows and the breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and home-made cakes was superb.

What a find! We have just returned from a fantastic week at Chalet Ficalho looked after by the wonderful owner Maria and her daughter. Maria is the fourth generation to live in the property which has recently been refurbished with great care to retain original features but bedrooms now have beautiful bathrooms with walk in shower and super powerful shower. Beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfasts were superb, featuring hot food cooked to order, selection of cheese, cold meats, fresh fruit salad, breads, croissants and delicious homemade cake made by Maria. The property is perfectly situated being close to the centre of Cascais and beaches but in a quiet location. The pool is in the delightful gardens where you can enjoy a selection of drinks. The property is a short drive from Lisbon airport and also close to Sintra and many museums in Cascais. We hope to return!

We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of Chalet Ficalho in Cascais, Portugal. The 1890s home is comfortable and lovingly cared for. We arrived far earlier than our check in time allowed and Maria, the owner, welcomed us warmly, offered us breakfast and had the staff quickly make up our room. Coming from the US we were exhausted and with our room ready immediately took a nap. (Comfortable bed!) Upon waking we headed out for a late lunch and easily found a nearby sushi restaurant we enjoyed called “Confraria”. Breakfast at Chalet Ficalho is delicious with many choices and good coffee and teas. Maria, Rakim and the rest of the staff are always nearby to offer you help with whatever you need. The grounds are impeccable with beautiful landscaping and a refreshing pool to lounge by or dip in. Rakim will offer you Sangria or other drink options. Maria is a great resource and makes herself available to all. The chalet is ideally located in Cascais with access to very good restaurants, the marina, museums and gardens. Ubers are plentiful. Be sure to visit the Mercado on Wednesday or Saturday. Unbelievable! Everything about the home is calm and serene and spacious, yet sits right in the middle of the city. We highly recommend it!

We had a really relaxing time, and would definitely recommend staying here. To summarise; It is absolutely lovely, a large family home built in 1897, very tastefully renovated. The gardens are very well looked after and the pool is a delight to sit by. We stayed in the deluxe room, which was very spacious with a huge ensuite, with tree top views. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and freshly made lemonade and cake. Breakfast is made to order, delivered with a smile by Hakim, who really couldn't do enough for us, along with the most delicious freshly squeezed orange juice and eggs any which way. The location is perfect. It's a quiet residential area, but within easy walking distance to the cobbled streets and fantastic small restaurants, the marina, and also the main town and beaches. Thank you to Maria and Hakim, and your colleagues, for making our stay so wonderful.

This enchanting guest house was the perfect place for us to spend a week. We were looking for somewhere with a personal touch and a flavour of Portugal and Maria has struck the absolute right balance. She is warm and welcoming and she made us feel at home right from the minute we arrived. The high ceilings, artwork and wood panelling made for some great photographs, whilst the delicious cooked breakfasts ensured we were set up for the day. I would not hesitate to recommend Chalet Ficalho and we can't wait to return again!
