The staff is VERY nice, that is why my review is not one star. The hotel is at a good location, but that is about it. Breakfast is like 7 Eleven breakfast. The hotel needs painting and new carpet really badly...no matter which floor there is sort of a musty smell, so it must be the carpet. In our room the kitchen faucet leaked on the floor, so did the dishwasher, yes we let the front desk know. We travel a lot, this hotel is in desperate need of some TLC.
We had an overall nice stay. The bed was comfortable, even though there was a middle school field trip on the 2nd floor, our floor was relatively quiet and we didn't have any problems with noise keeping us away. Since many of the hotel guests were on buses, we didn't have to go around back ever to find parking. I had read there were sometimes problems at the back of the parking lot and I can understand why with the woods there. It was convenient to walk to Cracker Barrel for dinner one night. The negatives: The pillows were extremely uncomfortable for both of us. Usually, I prefer the feather (or down-like) pillows and my husband prefers the feather-free type in Hampton Inns, but neither of us liked these. They seemed to be filled with air and then went flat when I laid my head on it. Breakfast was not as good as other Hampton Inn stays in the past year. The regular waffle batter was either too thick to come out or was empty for two days. The one morning, we were there an hour before breakfast ended and there was almost nothing in the bread and pastry box and other items were out as well. I stood around for a while to ask a worker about it, but eventually gave up when I didn't see anyone. Additionally, with a sign on the bathroom mirror that says Housekeeping only upon request, I was quite upset to come back and see my room had been cleaned. I know you usually hear the opposite, but if housekeeping is coming into my room, I put away my electronics, move my pajamas off of the bed and more.
