I've stayed at the Sonesta Suites numerous times because it is one of the few hotels in the C'ville area that offers two bedroom suites. I usually stay on the first floor because it is the most convenient for me - my mother uses a wheelchair. This trip I had to stay on the second floor and the room was awful. Our room appear to have been renovated only with new countertops - the wood cabinets are old and need a good cleaning. The trash in one of the bedrooms had not been emptied which makes you wonder if the room was adequately cleaned. Breakfast is usually good and plentiful. One of the few places with tortillas, salsa, etc. The location of the hotel is excellent - it is behind the Barracks Rd shopping center so there are two grocery stores, restaurants, and other shops.

Welcoming and convenient home base when your loved one is at the UVa Hospital. My room was excellent, clean, quiet, comfortable, good wifi, vanity separated from bed, plenty of space. Most memorable is how the staff worked with me and the situation of not knowing when my wife would be discharged from the hospital. The overnight front desk guy set me up to extend my stay. The day manager worked with me during the high stress time when discharge seemed imminent but not certain, and then at the last minute allowed me to cancel that evening's stay. Honestly, it felt like working with family. The location is at ”The Corner” with several options for food, and just a 2 block walk to the hospital (Best route: go across the street from the hotel, into the parking garage of the Battle hospital where you immediately are facing an elevator; go up to level C and onto the walkway to the hospital parking garage; take the elevator down to level A and walk the pedestrian bridge over to the UVa Medical Center).

Im not one to write reviews, but after all the poor reviews I scanned on the day of my arrival, I have to say my stay was very pleasant! The lobby, elevators, and hallways were clean and quiet. The room was large and perfect for my needs. The sleep (and pillows!) were lovely. Breakfast included several healthy options. The staff were friendly and helpful, kudos to Edie for a nice chat at the desk in the morning. I def will come back!

This place is so clean. The staff is so incredibly nice. It's situated in such a pretty spot. We woke up to an amazing view of the lake. Just stunning and Charlottesville in general is just stunning. I would definitely stay there as a matter of fact, we switched to this hotel from another one and we're so glad we did.
