Hotel muito simpático. Funcionários simpáticos ..pequeno almoço variado com uma vista deslumbrante sobre a serra.

Clean, big room but the most amazing - huge area of the former fort with historical staff, paintings, carpets, old walls. Very impressive conformable bed and car parking in the territory

Hotel in perfect location for exploring town. Excellent swimming pool and free parking. Tea good breakfast. Can’t ask for any more

The service and staff were very good, check in and out was smooth and various extra requests were handled with efficiency and smiles. The building, a fort, has a novel aesthetic as it is, but the beautiful decor really enhances, softens and adds warmth to the historic military purpose. The room was very large and spotlessly clean although a little dated compared to newer city properties. I found the hotel to be very peaceful and relaxing.

This is well situated in the area although located in higher part of town as is with fortes. Cobble entrance can be off putting. Plenty of parking for motorcycles and cars. Room was functional a little dark wood. Dining for dinner and breakfast excellent. Staff very good.

Back to The Forte again. Stayed before and it was it's usual, very high standard. A lot of cyclists one day and a group of Brits on small cc Motorbikes another. Interesting to see the range. Good food, Fab pool and the Town is really nice.

Used every year on our journey from Spain to Portugal. Immaculate hotel in an elevated position overlooking the area. Excellent rooms, first class breakfast and evening meal. Good safe parking for vehicles. Excellent leisure facilities with large pool. Staff first class. Will be back again 2023.

We booked a one night stay the Forte de Sao Francisco en route between Santander and the Algarve, The public rooms and bedroom are in a tastefully restored old fort. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Plenty of parking close to reception and the rooms. The staff are amazing and could not be more friendly and helpful. Where this hotel went the extra mile for us was my wife left her favorite coat in the room when we checked out The receptionist arranged for the coat t be couriered to our holiday home in southern Portugal, and then would not allow us to reimburse them with the cost, How's that for service ? We will certainly be using the Forte de Sao Francisco when we next visit Chaves, and would unreservedly recommend this lovely hotel to other travelers looking for accommodation in northern Portugal.
