Wow. Thought everything looked okay, until i had a proper look, apon arrival staff were not easily accessible and no where to be seen. Looking further into the room first off and the most important to note the curtains along with the windows were moldy!!!!! And had yellow stains on them! In the kitchen nothing matched not the cutlery cups etc along with sugar salt + pepper being in werid different containers. The shower still had bits of hair in it from the previous person, the roof was dirty and the door had a big dirty brown discoloured patch on it. While showering i also noticed that all three vents/ fans in the bathroom were full of dust, and the place i can see definitely needs a deep clean and vacuum!! Sadly that was not all. I know that its a little cheaper than other places but i still expect a high level of cleanliness especially as I’m paying to feel comfortable and stay here. The only really good things i have to say is the room, kitchen and bathroom are a good size, the owner i assume was nice when i saw them, there is free wifi and parking and the room was quite warm overnight. Personally wouldn’t stay again if i could help it
Excellent location to explore Christchurch attractions. Very clean and well appointed room for an excellent price (I was wondering what It may be getting into). The room quality was a 3+ star for US standards. The only negative is the lack of parking (only offstreet parking or may have to drive a block away for parking). The clean room, friendly staff and excellent location and the overall niceness of Christchurch and it's people in general made us quickly get over the initial stress of trying to find a place to park. Thank you Sameera!
I booked a private double room and wasn't expecting a good sleep because people going up & down the staircase sounded like a herd of rhino's. However, the quiet curfew of 10pm was adhered to and I enjoyed the best sleep I've had in the last 2 months (including my bed at home). The kitchen has plenty of space & the lounge has lots of table seating. The bathrooms were clean and the shower pressure was great. The location of the hostel is fantastic but street parking is metered and limited between 9am-6pm. I arrived on Waitangi Day when parking is free & only stayed 1 night so that worked well. But if you were staying longer finding free parking could be annoying so better to find an all day free spot the night before or leave it in a 24hr parking block. There are free streets but be mindful of residents.
Stayed four nights at this hotel which has a great location and within walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. Check in was good and paid parking plentiful. Unfortunately, the lift was not working on our arrival so we had to leave our luggage in our car and walk up to the third floor. The hotel is dated and grubby as was our room. There was a trolley of dirty towels and linen left in the hallway for over 24 hours during our visit, this is unacceptable! The bed was comfortable but the bathroom towels were very thin. One day we returned to our room at 4.00pm and the room was not made up. I understand the vacated rooms are made up first but after a full day of sightseeing, it would be good to return to a tidied room. I have stayed at various Quest hotels in Australia as I am a member but this is by far the worst. As such, I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers.
ゲゲストExcellent location! So close to everything in the city centre, we used the valet parking service and didnt take the car out once!, we could easily walk everywhere. We stayed 3 nights in a 1 bedroom suite, which was nice and clean, well appointed, and with a super comfy bed. They even had a wee sewing kit and a toothbrush kit, which are definitely things we've needed on our travels! Facilities in the hotel were great and staff were very friendly and attentive. Quintin from concierge was so helpful, and helped make our stay extra special by organizing wine and platters and delivering balloons to our room for our arrival :) Breakfast was also really yummy. Thank you Fable Christchurch! We really enjoyed our stay :)
ゲゲストComfortable hotel in Heart of City. Booked a room using points as a Gold Elite. Requested quiet room and was appointed 3rd floor over traffic lights so receptionist kindly moved me to a room on opposite side. It was quiet however the walls are thin and I can hear a lot of noise this morning - a lot of noise. Room service eggs were excellent, as was bar service last night. They know how to make a good drink. I was a bit annoyed as mini bar knocked this am and said she thought there was “no one in the room” whilst I was on a call. Not so professional. Can recommend as a good hotel in Christchurch (I’ve stayed in quite a few)
ゲゲストGood and tidy place. close to everything. would definitely be going back. it has a gym, bar and everything you need. staff is friendly. protection / safety is good as well. Room service was excellent.
PPioneer66828706296From the moment we opened the door it reflected warmth and inviting relaxation. The decor was fabulous throughout the complex and the reception area had the feel of a village. The hospitality staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. Very deserving of a positive review.
Really impressed. Lady at reception was so so helpful and finally a hotel that provided real milk upon check in. Old fashioned some quaint anomalies I havent seen for yonks. Roomy, neat and tidy. I toddled up to reception in heavy rain to order continental breakfast and the same helpful lady was so helpful, gave me a few tips and showed me how to get back to room undercover. Complimentary drink at bar, free guest laundry so friendly staff in restaurant as well, good food. Very rarely give 5 stars but Redwood deserves them! Am looking at riding around south island next summer and if I do, will definitely stay at Redwood again.
