The George was a first stop before beginning a long multi-day hike, so I needed some preparatory comfort. My room was fine, although the 1980s-style alarm clock radio and the (non-functioning) ancient electric heater were amusing. The whole place could really use a spruce-up throughout. Having said that, the bed was very comfortable. Nor could I complain about the very reasonable room rate, in a superb central location. I arrived on a Sunday, so missed the evening dining experience, although there are plenty of options within a few yards. Breakfast was unexciting - a self-serve arrangement, sadly the eggs were cold and the bacon like cardboard. Overall verdict? Could try harder.
I got married on the 12th October and the castle hotel. The staff went above and beyond to make my day special! Leah was an absolute gem all throughout my planning, constantly reassuring me, and making sure all of the details were completely correct multiple times so things weren’t wrong on the day. The room decor and the ceremony were amazing. The staff couldn’t have made it any more perfect for us. Staff during the meal were amazing with my children interacting with them and making sure they were ok. Sammy and Sean made my day run very smoothly, making sure I was happy with everything, making sure everything was on time and kept consulting me with what was happening next, as someone with autism I found this very helpful. I would highly recommend the castle to anyone, the wedding package is very affordable and everything included is amazing! The bridal suit was very clean and very relaxing, Thank you to you all for making my wedding perfect x
