Absolutely 5 star experience! Hotel mamma (local Icelandic) is the sweetest and most warm hearted person I met in a long time. She clearly loved to nurture and care for her guests. We got bumped up and had a suite for 3 days. Such a beautiful ambient atmosphere. The best home smoked salmon for breakfast and pukka tea! Simply a place full of love. I will come back any time
We stayed for 3 nights b&b in April. We arrived early and our allocated rooms weren't all ready but the reception staff amended our room so that we could check in. We also received a room upgrade to a balcony room on the top floor. The room was spacious, good size bathroom and comfortable bed. There was plenty of wardrobe space but no drawers to store smaller items. There was just one issue with the rooms on the top floor, which was they were very hot. Even with the radiators turned off, the staff advised that the heat from the lower rooms rise and can make them warm. There are just 2 small top windows so didn't allow much cooler air to circulate. There was a good selection at breakfast with English and continental breakfast options, tea, coffee, water and fresh fruit juices. The restaurant food was also good and comparable prices to in Reykjavik centre. Good service from the breakfast and restaurant/ bar staff. We used the spa on one of the days and enjoyed this. There are seperate saunas in the male and female changing rooms, with joint hot tub (not jacuzzi), warm small pool and small cold plunge pool. There are seating areas in the pool area with drink service. Towels and robes are provided. The hotel is located outside of Reykjavik centre and about 30 mins walk into the centre. There are a few supermarkets locally, we didn't find any within a short walking distance but there might be some around. The hotel benefits from free parking right outside and we didn't have an issue with the space being full. This was a good location for us as a base to explore the island. The hotel was clean and well equipped to meet our needs. The only issue was the heat in the bedrooms, but apart from that we had an enjoyable stay.
The location of the hotel is great. There is a great bar downstairs that supposedly has live music every night. The hotel is very safe, a password is required to enter at night. The hotel staff are nice and the rooms are clean.
My daughter and I returned to Guesthouse Sunna the first week of March 2024 for our fourth stay with them. For us, casual tourists, the location is ideal. It is across the street from the Hallgrimskirkja, the tall church that sits at the top of the hill and overlooks all of Reykjavik. There are outstanding restaurants within a couple of blocks. Bus Stop #8 is across the street from the Guesthouse. Inside the rooms are modern, roomy and clean. The rooms are grouped in “quads,” with a WC, shower, and kitchenette for each group of three or four rooms. The beds have always been comfortable. Breakfast is available for an extra charge, and includes bread freshly baked on the premises.
We are a group of four families together in our ultimate trip in Iceland. On our pre-planning of our trip, we found this gem of accommodation from booking.com. It ticked all the boxes we were looking for, that two-bedroom apartment can accommodate 8 people in, and still so very spacious. Aside from the bedrooms, there's a big living room, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped with cooker, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, kitchen wares and utensils. The third floor is where you can even do your laundry. The best thing about this apartment is its door being next to the lift gives a convenience of access, and when you open the door a stair gives you a welcoming experience. It is just a shame that only two families from our group got this accommodation, would of been better if the other two families got the same for theirs, as the two-bedroom apartment really deliver its purpose for big groups such as ours. Practical meets comfort at Bolholt 6 Two-Bedroom Apartment.
ゲゲストThe location was perfect in that in was in the heart of Reykjavik - shops, restaurants, and a block away from a main bus pick up stop (#6) for tours. Bad thing was it was close to everything including bars and on Saturday night, it was pretty loud till about 2/3 am. Weeknights were fine for us, probably more noise from fighting seagulls than rowdy people. The apartment itself was difficult to find since it was behind the main building, through a short alley be tween the Vietnamese restaurant and gift shop. We asked a local at the gift shop to locate it. And despite there being graffiti on the walls, we never felt unsafe and have returned past midnight before. We stayed in #301, third floor apartment that was basically a studio with 2 twin beds, a sofa bed, small round table with a few chairs, microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer combo, all utensils/settings. There’s also a small balcony shared with the apartment next to us. The exterior and apartment doors were accessible via codes. Great because no keys are needed, but could be tricky to unlock. An alarm will sound after a few incorrect attempts. The apartment looked great. Simple, neutral colors. We couldn’t figure out whether the place was cleaned though since one twin bed sheet had a little stain and one of the pillowcase had a little something stuck to it. And it didn’t smelled fresh, though could be it hasn’t been booked in a while? We only slept there and didn’t use any of the appliances, including the coffee maker, so don’t know if they worked or if they supplied detergents. We did notice that there’s a note you had to empty trash under the sink. The spots on our sheet and the one pillowcase were not confirmed or enough to be a big concern for us. Overall, we liked the place mostly for convenience. But if you’re a light sleeper, this might not be a good choice. Also want to note they were very responsive via email. And lastly, on street parking which you’ll need to download app to pay between 9 am and 6 pm.
MMairi Clare DWe had to book last minute owing to our previous accommodation not working out. They could not have been more helpful, or accommodating. We had an economy quadruple room for myself and 2 daughters which had a double bed and a bunk bed. It was more than adequate for our needs and very clean with a reasonably equipped kitchen.
AAppleCrazyWe really enjoyed our stay here . We had stayed before in Feb 2020 and were delighted the hotel was every bit as good as before if not better . The staff are friendly , the rooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is very nice too with everything you need . We also like the location of the hotel . It’s near bus stop 13 for tour /airport bus pick ups as well as being walkable from the BSI bus station . It is also easy to walk to the main shopping streets and restaurants and just a little further to the harbour . The shoreline walk is also just a short walk away . At the hotel we also liked the Green Policy they have for housekeeping along with the recycling bins in the bedroom . The hot water does have a slight sulphuric smell but that’s to be expected in Iceland and there is plenty off it and it’s lovely to shower in . Breakfast is generous and has everything you need along with an option to pay to make up a lunch . When we visit Reykjavik again we will definitely be staying here as it’s good value , warm , comfortable , relaxed and provides a homely base
