Hi, we are looking to book this hotel for May next year, we are looking to book a twin room with a sea view on the marina side of the hotel, we enjoy sitting on the balcony in the early afternoon and wondered if anyone who has stayed could tell me approximately what time the sun comes on to the balcony? Apologies for having to rate the review when we haven't been but it would not let me proceed with my question unless completed. Many thanks in advance for any advice
We have driven past this hotel on many occasions over the years, but decided to give it a try during a recent long weekend break in the Algarve and so pleased we did. It's a lovely little hotel, immaculately clean throughout and very friendly staff. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the pool which was delightful. The rooms have everything you need and an excellent walk-in shower. We asked for a kettle and got one. Breakfast is plentiful with a selection of hot and cold food. The pool area is very nice with plenty of sunbeds. Very relaxing. The hotel has a licenced bar and the prices are very reasonable. Fortunately, we had a car so could get out and about which might be the only drawback if you didn't have transport - the hotel is somewhat off the beaten track in terms of local amenities. The restaurant next door wasn't open during the time we were there which meant we had to drive in order to get lunch/dinner but that wasn't a problem for us. Really enjoyed our short stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. Highly recommended.
We have just returned from our stay in the apartments. As annual visitors I’m sorry to say this will be our last time in the Hilton as it no longer warrants a 5 star rating. 1) the apartments have become very dated and tired looking. Room 217 was just tired everywhere.. the bathroom door frames all boast with water damage, generally tired furniture and lots of tiles which are loose that every time you walk on them there is almost a crack! We also had ants and cockroaches in the apartment which is the first time ever we had seen this! Also in the bedroom the tv was unwatchable as it was all lines and clearly no longer functional 2) the cleanliness has definitely dropped.. rubbish lying on our corridor floor which remained for the week. Also when clearing the apartment on the last day we found someone else’s dirty sock under the bed 3) the apartments pool the jets no longer work and there is unsightly scum round the tiles… also the sun beds padding is dirty 4) the main Hilton pool also looking really tired with the rocks paint all peeling off 5) the toilets at the apartment pool are awful.. the floor is so dirty and on the last day we went to shower here in the ladies room to discover the shower head was snapped off and the cold tap unable to turn so no ability to shower the children in scalding temperature 6) some of the pool towels are only fit for the bin! 7) we went to the hotel bar one evening as it was the option for food(Tuesday) .. on sitting down I was told there was no children’s menu available? How in a family hotel can there be no children’s options? I had to buy the children an 18 euro burger and ask for it totally plain.. totally overpriced and not acceptable to not cater for children here 8) we were tortured with mosquito bites at the pool.. again never had this in all my years of coming here.. perhaps it’s a bad year but not pleasant All in all I have just found the whole resort has went downhill.. it no longer warrants to be called a 5 star and I don’t feel good value for money was here sadly!
Have stayed in apartments across from hotel for last 10+ summers but have never stayed in the hotel. I organised a golf trip for myself and 3 family members and knowing area very well went with Pestana Vila Sol. It was definitely value for money compared to hotels in Marina. And have to say we are already planning 2025 as the hotel was fantastic, it met all our requirements. The gold deluxe room was fantastic with a great balcony. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was great. The staff at the hotel reception, especially the lads assisting with golf bags and lockers, were so friendly and attentive. They met us with a smile everyday!! Breakfast was very good with a great variety, especially the bacon!! Would definitely recommend the hotel. And if going on a golf trip well worth looking here, value for money versus Marina and free transfers to golf courses and furthermore lockers so that you don't have to drag clubs up to room each day. I am looking forward to returning in 2025.
We love this place and have been coming here for years. Always book an apartment rather than a studio as you get at least one, sometimes two, generous terraces to sit out on. IN November 2024 we had superb weather for 6 out of 7 days. The pool area has been refurbished with more accessibility, and other improvements made. The snack bar was not open so late in the year, but the minibus service still operates and the restaurant (very plain food) was available in the evenings. A Spar minimarket is within a short walk, well stocked and with a very nice coffee and ice cream cafe attached. Within a 10 minute stroll is a large (for Portugal) new Pingo Doce which is a real boon for the self caterer. Friendly reception staff as always and immaculately kept rooms with daily cleaning. Great value aparthotel...we will be back! PS look out for hoopoes foraging in the gardens, charming long beaked migratory birds.
