My mother, fiance, my service Animal, & I stayed here at the country Inn & Suites in Chambersburg. We stayed for 3 days in room 129. On the last morning, that Sunday i woke up to a big red dot on my right eye lid. I went to Med express and they assured me that it was a bed bug bite. I was put on anti biotics and thought it would subside. I called the country inn & suites to let them know that we saw traces of bed bug fecal matter on the sheets upon undressing the beds and pillow cases. I brushed it off because it was our last day & nobody would be in those beds, as for we were heading to the pool. Days later i have $1000's of dollars worth of medical bills and a swollen face. Reconsider staying here. The hot tub and pool were very nice. The complimentary breakfast was okay. But it wasnt worth the suffering im enduring now. My face and eye are swollen and I've lost 3 eyelashes already.
Any accomodation near to Gettysburg is more expensive than normal (as far as I can see). I chose this hotel because it is a well know brand in the UK that is basic but clean and reliable. Bedding : blanket had bits that appeared to be cut out. Tired looking room not up to Travelodge UK standards. Worst thing at 4:30 pm the clerk would not open the door for us to check in, he asked for my credit card so foolishly I gave it to him. After a while he called me in, he asked me to enter my pin, the machine said it was my last attempt! So this ****** had been trying to guess my pin!!!!! I guess this brand may have no connection with the UK brand but I will not use the US Travelodges in the future. The charging was OK, but the method was far too suspect for my liking.
We have stayed here a lot of times as we head north & south but it just keeps getting to be less plesant. The hotel is being renovated, not disclosed on the web site. Our room has been completed however: the sink has no stopper so hard to shave, means we just have to be wasteful & run the water. No light bulbs for the lamps bedside, the room is very dark. They neglected to ship the correct ”designer” bulbs so instead of using something while waiting for the bulbs it is just dark. The fitness center is closed, period The pool is closed & liocked, it is after labor day so too bad. Not like there is a life guard on duty. No welcome ammentiy, ie water or points or granola bars Basically we were told too bad
If you are familiar with and like the Springhill Suites brand then this will be a good choice for you. It's very new, is typical of the latest Springhill design, with friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. It's a basic hotel, let's be clear, but it's done well. The rooms are larger than a typical hotel room and divided in a way to provide a living area and a sleeping area divided by a work desk (not a closed-door suite, to be clear). Large walk-in closet with lots of shelving. Trundle bed which can sleep two extra people. Bathroom door is a slider with frosted glass which was fine however if one person is up earlier than the others it could brighten the whole room. Ideally they would have put a solid sliding door there instead of the tempered glass. Shower was nice with great pressure. HVAC was effective and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was very basic but fine for what it is. There's a VERY small indoor pool. My request for a high floor away from elevator (made on the Bonvoy app chat earlier in the day) was accommodated and appreciated. Well-situated off I-81 with a lot of chain restaurants around and a large retail development including a large Target. While everything is new and works now I hope they maintain this place well because already there were some towel rods that were loose, some chips in the shower floor, and some signs that this place was built a bit on the cheap - like many chain hotels are these days I've found. So it's all good now but I hope they maintain it well or else it will show its age earlier than it should. Would definitely return if I'm passing through the area or have business in the region.
