I’d love to be writing a better review but I never even made it to the hotel. Had planned a quick stay here from flying from Richmond - Charlotte - Miami (moving to AirBnb for the rest of the time). Well, typical American Airlines behavior in Charlotte caused us to miss our connecting flight to Miami. We were set to arrive until after midnight anyway which I notified them in the app. I reached out to the hotel via the app to let them know what was going on. Typically I receive amazing customer service. Any other times I’ve been delayed from flights, there is no issue with cancelling. Possibly because I use the explorer rate? Unsure. But I reached out via the App and asked if it would be possible to refund my measly one night stay. The response : unfortunately, they’re a first night penalty. Being that I only planned to be there for less than 8 hours, I feel like they could’ve given some grace.
The most inept and thieving staff I have ever met. I now have no gas money to get home from Miami to Tampa, as they stole $70 from me for a room, in addition to a $40 deposit, after failing to mention the charge. The best part of the story? The room was supposed to be free with Marriott points! Now, they are saying they probably won't be able to return the money they took. Thievery at its finest, folks. Also, I waited outside of the hotel for an hour, as I was waiting for my mobile key to load on the Bonvoy Marriott app, just to eventually walk in and find out that the same staff failed to send me a text (their new policy, as I was told) that mentioned the fact that they don't use the app anymore, which was news to me. Stay at any other Marriott, or hotel in general, for your own sake.
