We picked this place as we were attending a concert nearby and it was just a few miles from the venue and a great price. They had these really nice condo/suites t some of them overlooked the lake, and they had nice amenities with a very nice pool area. Here's the thing though, we check in, typical hotel check-in, but they don't give us a key. The front desk lady directs us to this other counter that is roped off. We get there and this other lady welcomes us, big smiles, thank you for choosing us, blah, blah. We have a gift for you, and she pulls out this card with three gifts we can choose. I immediately go into defense mode, I just want my key. The lady is insistent that we choose a gift, we still don't have a key. So i pick one. then this other guy walks over, and he's all smiles and greets us, and he says follow me to claim your gift. It was a membership/timeshare presentation. I just politely said, ”We're just here to see a concert. I'm not interested. Can I have my room key please” Then they started full bore into the pitch, ”It will only take 20 minutes and then you can have your key and your gift” I said, ”Please just give me my key, or we will go find somewhere else to stay” The guy walked away and the lady's attitude changed dramatically. I asked again, ”Can we have our key please?” She then dropped the keys on the counter and didn't say another word. It was very awkward. The condo/suite was very nice though. I wish I would have had the option to decline their presentation when I booked. I thought it was real disrespectful of them to hold your room key hostage as a way to get you into their presentation. Other than that it was a great stay!
One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Not sure how old the property is, but it feels new because it is so clean and well maintained. We stayed in a King room on the pool side, top floor. From the bed , there is a great view of the hills to the north through the large window. The window has a privacy/sun shade along with a blackout shade. The room has the best layout I have ever seen and feels very spacious. None of that cramped, claustrophobic feeling. The bathroom is large and well laid out. The shower is large, with glass doors. The shower head has good water pressure, and the water is hot. There are good quality bath products in wall mounted dispensers both in the shower and at the sink. No cheesy little bottles here. Breakfast is good but not excellent. Main course is the same cheese omelet you get at many hotels, but they also have sliced fried potatoes and link sausage. The sausage was quite good for a hotel breakfast. They have all the other usual items that you might want. The outdoor pool is better than your average pool. Ver clean and well maintained. It was very enjoyable sitting out by the pool. Other positives: Good soundproofing; good tv with HBO, ESPN etc; good bed and comforter; good quality extra blanket; good lighting. Negatives are very few. The entrance to the hotel is not well marked and is not obvious, so is easy to miss. Also, the last time we stayed there was a problem with the AC. The staff resolved the problem quickly by moving us to another room. The AC in that room worked flawlessly. I want to commend both Trevor and Isabel. Both showed excellent customer service skills. But more than that, they both had a caring attitude. Trevor helped us when we called to get an early check-in. His phone skills were perfect. Isabel resolved the problem with the AC for us in a way that left us completely satisfied.
VvmanHave stayed here several times and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect for exploring the New Braunfels / Gruene area. The rooms are clean and the a/c is cold. The beds are extremely comfortable with four nice pillows. What makes the location exceptional is the manager Angel Ibarra who goes out of her way to make your stay easy. Great personality and very accommodating.
My wife booked a room here for our family to stay in your motel on Thursday June 15th. We got here at approx 1pm, maybe a little later and were instructed to pay a further $20 for early check-in to an empty room that had already been cleaned... Ok, no worries. Then, when we went and asked for linen for the pull out couch, we were charged another $20 for that because there were 6 of us in the room and we had booked for 4. The room sleeps 6, we paid for the room, not how many bodies we were putting in it. The condition of the room was adequate. However, here is some sort of blood or feaces on the bath tub though (pic attached). The pull out couch mattress is in poor condition, the stains on it are atrocious. The gentlemen on the front desk has been nothing but rude to us. It feels like he has stolen $40 from us, as in the past, staying at other motels, we have NEVER been charged for early check in and we have NEVER been charged for extra linens or additional people in the room. Im not asking for a refund, but I would like our $40 back. The treatment we have received from the gentleman at the front desk has been far from acceptable and he is the manager. And, our online bill and paper bill do not allign. Bit the junior behind the desk said ”he would take care of it.” We come up here a few times every year to float the river and we always stay in hotels. We thought we would give this 1 a try. After today and what has happened, unless this issue is resolved, we wont be back here. At present we haven't asked him to extend our stay... We will be going to another hotel later today. The only good thing about this hotel is the shower.
