We received an Afternoon Tea Voucher as a Christmas present and decided to book for my husband's birthday in June. Upon arrival at the hotel reception desk, we only had to wait a few moments before Donna showed us into one of the lounges where a table was set up for us by a window overlooking the lake and grounds. As it was a beautiful sunny afternoon I asked if we could have tea on the terrace. Donna apologised and said that unfortunately this was not possible so we were initially a little disappointed, however, we were still able to enjoy the view. Our selected coffee with hot milk arrived swiftly and the selection of sandwiches, scones and patisseries quickly followed. All were freshly made and quite delicious. Donna ensured both the coffee and hot milk were replenished as required and looked after us superbly throughout the afternoon. After tea and feeling rather full we took the opportunity to have a walk around the hotel grounds seeing the fish in the lake and the deer grazing amongst the trees on the adjoining golf course. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon made even better by the June sunshine!
I specifically booked a night at the Sofitel Gatwick because it included 'Meet and Greet' parking with Maple Parking. Had they not included this I would have still stayed but made other arrangments for my car. I arrived at the Maple Parking Meet and Greet and parked the car. Took my keys over to the attendant and signed in. I then asked if they could give me 20 minutes to check in to the hotel, change clothes and bring a bag back to the car. We didnt want to bring a bag of unclean clothes on holiday with us. Here's where things went downhill faster than Gwynth Paltrow on ski's. The attendant, a tall bloke with a mid-european accent shouted at me 'No, do you know you are at an airport'. He actually shouted this. Shouted. To a customer. Take a minute to breathe that in. Fortunatly I knew I was at an airport, having driven 4 hours to get there. To hear that I was at an airport was no surprise, to be shouted at by a car park attendant was. I explained that I didnt want to take a case of unclean clothes on holiday with me. His response to that was 'we are extremly busy and your car will be removed immediately'. I asked if the hotel would hold the bag and he replied 'No they will not hold your stupid bag'. Here's where I should have murdered him with his Maple Meet and Greet Staff lanyard, but I did not. I asked for my keys back to be told once again in an truely agresive manner 'if you take your keys I will close the entry and you can't come back'. I took the keys and left. I then had to park at Gatawick Long stay for an additional £150. We finally checked into the hotel, explained the situation. The checkin lady (Alessia?) apologised and gave us two tokens for a free drink at the bar. They also kept our bag for us. Is this the fault of Sofitel Gatwick? I think it is. They decided to partner with a company that treats people appalingly. So they've got to accept responsibility for that. Please share this review, If I saw something like this I would have chose another car park or another hotel. Other people should be warned.

Nice looking from the outside. Some mighty pot holes in the car park ( but at least there was one I suppose? ) Inside is tired, there was a typed letting me know that the ‘included’ breakfast was cancelled ‘due to staffing’ no refund offered either! The rooms were basic, nastiest bathroom I’d seen for a long time, the shower rail was brown with rust, the pipes clanked and it looked shabby. Also had one of those mouldy shower curtains that tried to curl themselves round you in the shower. Shower was good and hot however. The cleanliness was pretty good, I think they did the best they could with the awfulness of the room. The pillows were the saddest and worst pillows I have ever encountered. Just as well they didn’t provide pillow mints, as they would have dwarfed the pillows! Made the mistake of trying to use the provided ironing board. It was barely able to stand, and would make the leaning Tower of Pisa weep with envy! The iron was decent though. Best thing about it was the tea bags.
