My friend and I had the pleasure of staying at this Hyatt Hotel during our stay in Dar es Salaam. We had arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and bring us to the hotel and the service was excellent! Felix, our driver, was great company to have on our drives and he was very knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting facts and information about the surrounding area and what to expect for our trip. We always felt like V.I.P. when Felix was at the wheel! Once at the hotel all of the staff were very friendly and greeted us with open arms for our stay. The food was excellent, the rooftop pool was just what we needed to relax, and the hotel gym had a wide range of equipment. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Dar es Salaam!
We had to change hotels and ended up having a last minute stay at the Four Points Sheraton. We were able to check in early. The property was clean and well kept. Excellent service. Thank you!
Great service. People very kind, room very comfortable. Attention was on point. The fitness center is very well equipped, even with sauna room. My only observation was price per night, a little high, anyway, out of that it was a great week that I had.
I'm going to give my honest review about Gold Tulip Resort in Dar es Salaam. This should not be a 4 Star Hotel it should be a 2.5 - 3 Star. My husband and I stayed at this location from 02/02/23 - 02/10/23. The driver for the hotel picked my husband and I up from the airport very nice man. I would like to talk about the Pro's and Con's of this place. Con's Finally arriving at our destination I was so confused and disturbed by how unpleasant it looked in the back of the building. The inside of the receptionist lobby was very clean and it smelled amazing. It was nice and cool. Taking the elevator to the 16th floor was extremely hot. They should install an air conditioning system or a fan inside of the elevator because it's very hot an muggy. My husband and I stayed in room 1606. The room was nice and spacious. Several things I did not like about the room. 1. TV was really small and it wasn't directly in the middle where it should've been. 2. No sports station only in the restaurant on the 20th and 21st floor which was super annoying. You're not able to enjoy your stay and watch sports in your room. 3. On February 9th it stormed and my husband and I were asleep. The sound of the thunder and lightening woke me up. I tried going back to sleep but I kept hearing rain drops which sounded as if it the rain was dropping onto the floor. I get up at 3am and check and low and behold the window seal was completely drenched and water was also on the floor. How is this possible??? They need to do some immediate work on their windows because this is extremely dangerous. 4. Bathroom was very unpleasant looking. The toilet was absolutely disgusting. No matter how many times the housekeeper came to clean the inside of the toilet where the water refills was so corded with rust. Everytime we flushed the water was brown. That was disgusting. It really bothers me when I needed to shower water would get all over the floor because there was no door to keep the water inside the shower. The existing glass door that's there water gets underneath it and gets all over the floor. Water temperature takes time to get hot. 5. Air conditioner unit is horrible and they need to replace all of them in each room. For this place to charge so much money they can afford to upgrade the air conditioning unit, TV, TV Stations, Glass door for shower, toilets, etc... 6. My husband and I ate at their restaurant almost everyday. The prices of their breakfast is ridiculous because the food they have for all you can eat wasn't pleasant. To charge what they charge is a bit outrageous. The drinks they have out are NEVER and I mean NEVER iced cold. When you ask them for ice it's always a hassle to get because their machine doesn't always work. It's really hot in the morning and not having an iced cold beverage is annoying. Dinner Menu I got really bored with. First thing I ordered on their menu was Chicken Tom Yom Soup. When I tell you this soup was no where near Tom Yom.soup. It tasted not
The Best Western CBD Hotel in Dar es Salaam is highly recommended. The staff welcomed us kindly upon check-in and were very helpful in resolving any issues that followed. Located in the city center, it is convenient for meetings and is also suitable for taking the ferry to Zanzibar. It is good value for money and the meals are also decent.
I spent one night in the Chelsea Hotel to do some sightseeing in Dar and it was very good for that purpose. The hotel was a little bit dated, but otherwise completely up to the standards which I expect from a hotel. It's located not far from the clock tower, which to my understanding pinpoints the centerpoint of the city. The actual sights I went to see started further away, about 20 minutes by foot. The room was adequate in size and had good aircon. I had a twin room. I first tried sleeping in the bed further away from the aircon, but the air blew directly there, so I had to move to the bed right under the aircon unit. The hotel was located close to a busy road and the honking of the cars could be heard up to the sixth floor. However it wasn't bad. The breakfast was ok. It didn't have a very wide selection, but the items I tried were tasty and of good quality. Also the setting in the restaurant was pleasant. The only negative I have to say is the extraorbitant exchange rate. I had paid my room rate in advance, but I had to pay the city tax (1.50 USD) at the hotel. I asked to pay in Tsh and had to pay 7000 Tsh, equivalent to about 3$. My loss was only 1.50$, so it wasn't a big deal in my case, but the principle left a bad taste in my mouth. If the room rate would have been 1.50$ higher but the city tax 3500 Tsh, I would have left as a happy customer. The hotel offered airport transfer for 42000 Tsh. It was quite pricy. The fixed price at the official taxi stand at the airport was 30000 Tsh. On the way back to the airport I used a rideshare app to get my transfer, it cost Tsh 12000.
Quiet hotel. Nice neighborhood to walk. Excellent breakfast and service. Restaurant options nearby. Room was nice but had a small shower leak and some mosquitoes.
Good value for money. Quiet area, but with many restaurants nearby, grocery store about 10 min walk, coco beach ~15 min walk. Restaurant at hotel very good, trying to have a 'cool vibe' - has both indoor and outdoor space - sushi focused. Good tofu / vegetarian sushi options! Fitness center next door included, spa on top floor. Staff were excellent. Great wifi in room - could conduct video conference calls w no problem! Rooms v well maintained, plenty of lighting+plugs, awesome rain-showerhead, big window w mosquito screen, but also fan and AC options. Only con is no fridge in room. Quietest rooms: 2nd floor facing pool. (3rd floor I could hear the water pump running constantly...) Definitely will be back!
IImina OlgaNice hotel, with spacious suites which would be ideal for a longer stay, with Coco beach just across the road. Staff was very polite, friendly and service minded. Because it was not busy (just before peak season will start mid december) they offered us an extra amenity by means of roomservice. The first night we ate in the restaurant of the hotel which was good and tastefull. Breakfast could be better, a bit too plain and bad coffee. But all in all a pleasant stay.
ゲゲストI just stayed at Q Bar & Guesthouse and been amazed by the loveliness of the staff. The guesthouse is comfortable, AC, spacious and lit rooms, safe, little desk area, sofa, TV. I very much appreciated the whole stay. From start they were super responsive on the booking engine. At check in Ibra showed me few rooms before choosing what i wanted, made sure i was comfy, cooked breakfast by Grace was perfect, she's lovely and so is whole staff, and Joel the manager is very nice and welcoming. The Bar is popular in the area and the location is perfect! No noise, the rooms are quiet. Definitely recommend.
We booked for one night, for after our journey from Zambia on the TAZARA train. (We didn’t have much info to go on but anyone from the UK who grew up in the 70s or 80s will understand the appeal) We knew the train was running over twelve hours late but hadn’t expected to be turned out of our bunks on arrival at 03:30. That being the case we made a beeline for the Rainbow in the hope that they’d also be able to put as up for the night before we’d booked, which they could (of course we had to pay for the extra night). Staff were nice, rooms and beds comfortable, and a surprisingly good breakfast (we’d been lead to believe it was continental but there were pancakes, fried potatoes, baked beans, noodles, and eggs cooked to order). If you want a fridge in your room I think you need to book a de-luxe room. Also a good location, very close to the Zanzibar ferry. The hotel also offers an airport transfer service, a bit on the expensive side but hassle free.
