We ended up at the Daytona Grande after the Hilton Oceanfront overbooked and we were on our way with no place to stay! Admittedly not the safest, but I had to book this place while driving from the Orlando airport and just looking for something that wasn’t a total dive but still decently priced without a ton of extra fees. No free breakfast here which is something I especially appreciate as a family of 6, but in this case it was just me and my teenage son in town for an archery championship. After the highly stressful day of travel we had, the Grande was like a little slice of Heaven! It was clean, quiet, and beautiful. We decided after having to skip lunch with flight delays and all that, we just wanted a good meal and a good bed and we got exactly that. My son and I split truffle fries to start, the crusted crab filet, and beignets for dessert. All were wonderful (and we’re from Dallas where there is no shortage of excellent food) and enjoyed Oceanside on the dimly lit quiet patio. My only criticism is that the tables should be turned perpendicularly to the ocean and hotel so that everyone at the table gets a view of both rather than one facing a wall while the other faces the ocean.
Rooms were nicely decorated, had comfortable, intuitive lighting, handy USB plugs, and most importantly REALLY COMFORTABLE BEDS! We have a Tempurpedic at home so my sleep is usually pretty abysmal at hotels. Now, this wasn’t as comfy as home, but I slept hard and woke without being sore since the bed was genuinely comfortable.
My only complaints about the room were that the window sheers, while stylish, really gave no privacy at all, so if you wanted privacy you had to sacrifice light. Water pressure wasn’t great and the bathroom needed more towel bars and hooks. This would’ve been way more of a nuisance with the whole family, but they also came midday and restocked towels and made up the beds, which we see less and less of these days, even at nice hotels in the name of being “green”. But it was spacious and clean and otherwise nicely equipped.
Elevators were fast and never held us up. Beach access from the elevator was nice as we didn’t have to walk through the lobby in swimsuits. Parking was slightly inconvenient being caddy corner across the street, but not bad at all. We considered but didn’t try room service mainly due to price and unknown wait (when we had tournament times to consider) but the little shop/cafe in the lobby was great and convenient and priced about as you’d expect (pricey, but not too ridiculous). We got coffee and breakfast sandwiches both days.
I think the biggest issue with this place is the visibility. It’s tall to be sure so you’re not going to miss it, but the entrance and signage is on the far side and behind a little aqua building (I think called Sand Dunes) which had to be apartments or a teeny hotel that I can only assume refused to sell to the Grande in development so the Grande built around it. It keeps it from having the opulent entrance that the Hilton does
Mmykyl1This place rocks. I had a chance to meet the General Manager while on site. What a wonderful gal. The rooms are top notch as is the staff. The food and beverage are to die for as well. I will be going back often. We had perfect weather and there are many fun things to do in the area.
TTaylor NMy best friend and I did the photoshoot with Family Sunset Photos and were surprised at how fun and painless it was. It was really nice to have it so convenient to our stand our photographer put us right at ease. It only took about twenty minutes but she was able to capture over 200 photos. The hardest part was choosing which ones to keep!
775sandibMy husband and I spent 5 nights here. Our room was on the second floor. It wasn't anything fancy, and we've stayed in better but it was good enough. We thought the bed slept fine, the shower was hot and had plenty of pressure, there wasn't noise that could be heard from other rooms, the TV worked great. The cleaning service came when requested and made the bed and brought clean towels. Breakfast couldn't be complained about, we thought there were plenty of choices and the staff working it were very nice and kept everything cleaned and stocked. There is still no pool as it got destroyed in the last big hurricane and there were workers there every day. You also have to go next door to use that property's stairs to get down to the beach. The rental of two beach chairs, an umbrella and a table is $50 which we decided we weren't willing to pay since we would only be using for a couple of hours. (Pretty sure it only cost half that when we were there 3 years ago but oh well.) Overall we did enjoy our stay. Plenty of places to eat and things to do around there and we would go back again and stay at this hotel.
JJanet GThis was the first please I stayed were the housekeeper mopped the floor. Our room was clean. The price was great for a budget friendly hotel. Right on the beach a few steps from the room. They offered a breakfast of waffles, eggs, sausage, briskets and gravy, toast, bagels, juice and coffee.
TT3326EYlisakTerrible internet- however gets worse before unpacking I purchased disinfectant floor cleaner and bathroom cleaner. It was disgusting. I have pictures and to top it off the pool they claim and say they have a pool man. The pool has not run since I checked in last week. There are still two chicken drumstick bones in the pool the pool is still cloudy according to pool maintenance, which I have one you have to turn the water over in the pool, a minimum of once a day, especially in the Florida heat, they don’t even have the pump running as you can see in the pictures and video. Everything is stagnant would not get in this pool two years ago when I stayed here William was wonderful, but I don’t know who they have in charge and then today my key I keep telling them the key doesn’t work right it drops down and and the lady goes. We’ll just get tweezers. She was very rude. Her name was Raven. She’s from another location. The young man that helped me was wonderful , but yeah, they have some doozies of supposedly hospitality Crew here if I would treat my patience like that, there would be some throwing a fits for sure if I find another place quickly I will be out. I stayed three months last time, but there’s no way. Like I said, these chicken bones have been in the pool since last week when I checked in The front desk lady said if you have a problem call corporate wasn’t even willing to look at the problem so I called corporate. They’re supposed to be getting back in 3 to 3 days but we’ll see the trouble you can get really bad urinary track infections from dirty water.
