Felix greeted us with great style and he is a really attentive host. A pleasure to see that ”great service ” does still exist. In pieno centro. Parcheggi in uno dei tanti parcheggi sotterranei ed esci in Piazza con la Frauenkirche davanti. Il parcheggio è caro (25 euro al giorno) ma per avere l auto a due passi in pieno centro di una città ci può stare. Prenotiamo segnalando che arriveremo tra le 19 e le 20, riceviamo la mail di conferma senza l indicazione che la reception chiude alle 19.... Arriviamo, sulla porta c’è un numero telefonico e l indicazione di andare alla reception qualche porta più in là: chiusa con davanti lo stesso numero di telefono a cui non risponde nessuno. Non è facile chiamare un numero tedesco quando il tedesco non lo si sa. Dopo qualche minuto compare una ragazza che ci dice di recarci all’hotel Suitess a poche centinaia di metri e lì ci verrà data la chiave: poche centinaia di metri è vero, ma se hai la valigia e se piove non è il massimo. Un cartello davanti alla porta o una mail di risposta con le info sarebbe stata opportuna. Miniappartamento grande, pulito, con bagno e angolo cottura, niente da dire, perfetto e comodo.
I must admit, I often approach large chain hotels with a hint of skepticism, expecting a standardized experience that may lack personal touch. However, my recent stay at Gewandhaus Dresden, an Autograph Collection hotel, shattered these preconceptions and left me thoroughly impressed. Over the course of our wonderful 5-day stay, it became evident that Gewandhaus embodies the essence of what sets Autograph Collection properties apart within the Marriott brand. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the warmth and efficiency of the front desk staff set a promising tone for our visit. Their recommendations for local attractions, dining options, and hidden gems truly enhanced our experience of the city. It was evident that they took the time to understand our preferences and tailor their suggestions accordingly, demonstrating a level of attentiveness that is often lacking in larger hotel chains. Furthermore, the breakfast served daily was a highlight of our stay. Each morning greeted us with a delightful spread of culinary delights, impeccably presented and fabulous service. It provided the perfect start to our days of exploration and adventure. Our room surpassed all expectations. In contrast to typical European standards, it was remarkably spacious and boasted a charming view overlooking a picturesque street.

Neben dem Entree eine schmuddelige Raucherecke, klebriger Boden, Abfall, Kippen, ein überlaufender Aschenbecher. Das Check-in kühl, der Rezeptionist hochnäsig. Ebenso kühl die nüchternen Hotelflure mit dem Charme eines Krankenhauses, nur bei weitem nicht so sauber in dieser ehemaligen 'Holiday Inn' Immobilie. Perfekt dazu passend das Bad: Klein, ungemütlich, mit abgenutzten, ausgefransten Handtüchern; vom Zimmer der Ausblick auf die Rückwand des 'Best Western' nebenan. Die schmalsten Betten mit den unbequemsten Matratzen, die ich jemals in einem Hotel ertragen musste. An Durchschlafen nicht zu denken - ab der 2. Nacht kommen zum Schlafmangel noch heftige Rückenschmerzen - in der 3. Nacht dann wohl ein Geheimnis gelüftet: Meine Matratze liegt, gut kaschiert von der Bettwäsche, direkt auf einer nackten Sperrholzplatte. Reparatur ? Standardausstattung ? Was soll dieser Pfusch ? Kein Room-Service, keine Reinigung - auf Bitten erhalten wir zwei abgezählte Päckchen Instant-Kaffee für den Wasserkocher. Am 3. Morgen läuft das geschmacksneutrale Kaffeegebräu durch die Böden der aufgeweichten Pappbecher - neue gab's natürlich nicht. Rein optisch immerhin stimmig zum übergelaufenen Abfalleimer direkt darunter, nach drei Nächten ohne jeglichen Service ... Stop ! Mit Corona-Maßnahmen zum Schutze unserer Gesundheit lassen sich diese inakzeptablen Zustände weder erklären noch kleinreden, denn: In allen anderen Hotels in Sachsen auf derselben Reise, im selben Zeitraum erlebten wir exzellenten Service sowie perfekte Sauberkeit, trotz gewisser Einschränkungen und bei einwandfreier Berücksichtigung aller erforderlichen COVID-19 Maßnahmen. Dies waren allerdings echte 'First-Class' Hotels ... weiterer Kommentar: Überflüssig.
Ladies at the reception (Anna and Lena) professional but very unfriendly. This both at check-in and at check-out. Please pay attention to the following things: - if you reach the hotel even half hour before the time of the check-in (3pm) and even if your room is ready, they ask you for 20 euro for the early check-in (UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!) - If you have a car, please consider that the cost for the Parking is mandatory (20euro/day). There is no parking space available around the hotel - Gym is not well equipped (no machines for running). Moreover, to reach it you have to exit the hotel and walk trough the long very cold parking space. - double room doesn’t have a single double bed but two beds one next to each other (very uncomfortable!!!!)
