Service was shocking, table was empty and clear, sat down at table looked at menu, went to bar to order to be told after 10 minutes that the table was reserved and they couldn’t seat us. Not sure why there wasn’t a reserved sign was very embarrassing as the whole pub looked at us as if we had done something wrong. Avoid unless you like being embarrassed.

Been past so many times, but never went in, and now regret we havent. The food is beautiful, the pie home made, gorgeous pastry and loaded with steak. Amazing vegetables and lots of them. Desert was home made treacle tart and this was even better. Cant remember having a better meal than this anywhere and at such great value. We will certainly be returning. Highly recommend..

We visited on a Saturday afternoon with a view to booking a table for my birthday. The Cricketers had been recommended to us as we are new to the area. We ordered coffees. The main room with the fire was empty. Two tables had reserved on them. The other tables had recently been vacated. We were told we couldn’t sit at any of the tables in the main room because ‘they were booked for the shoot’. Consequently all the customers were in the room to the side of the bar. Four out of the five tables were occupied and it was a fairly tight fit. We stayed quite a while as we thought we might have a meal. No one turned up from the shoot so we could have had our coffees in the empty main room. The girl behind the bar was unwelcoming and abrupt. It was not a pleasant experience. The menu looked very inviting but we will not be returning. I have never written a Trip advisor report before but this visit merited a comment.

Fantastic meals (Sunday roast, ham & chips, crumbles, cheesecake), lovely garden ( specially if the sun is shining) great service ( friendly staff), brilliant chef (tasty food). Have visited about 4 times now and been happy every time. We will be back.

Have been going to Goodwood in September for a few years now and for the last two have stayed here. Ruth , ably assisted by Charlottte , runs a lovely pub/hotel. The food is excellent classic English fare. My steak was perfect. The beers and choice of same were great as was our room. We'll be back again.

Went with a party of 31 people. The food and service was presented and organised really well. Ruth and her staff were so welcoming and the food was so good, especially considering the number catered for. We will definitely be visiting again.

Hasn’t really changed in our nearly 40 years of visiting, the food last night was the best we can remember, a really great meal. Simple perfect cooking and wonderful non fussy surroundings Cant wait to return again for great food and service.

We stopped here on our way home to Kent. Such a friendly pub. From the second we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. The food is excellent, generous helpings & delicious. I had the steak, mushroom & ale pie with veggies & my husband had the pork belly with veggies, from the specials board. Worth every penny. Thank you to all the staff.
