We stayed in the 1 bed cottage & our friends stayed in the 2 bed next door. They are situated in a lovely village setting, Milk in the fridge & a box of biscuits were much appreciated on our arrival. Good off street parking & a good bus service into Durham City Centre. Great, welcoming pub across the road, good food & nice atmosphere ( they do breakfast too). The cottages had every thing you need for a short stay but we all agreed that there is room for some improvements to make the cottage a little more comfortable. The soft furnishings were well worn & a little grubby, beds so uncomfortable (maybe this is personal choice but we felt the beds along with the sofas, towels & bed linen could do with replacing) the general cleanliness was ok but then you start noticing the cobwebs etc, nothing major but the attention to detail would make these cottages go from ok to luxury. In the 2 bed cottage the smoke alarm was missing. Overall we had a good stay & the village setting , the owners friendliness etc is worthy of the rating given as the points I have noted can be so easily sorted.
