Edinburgh City Centre (Waverley)

Great location being only a 5 minute walk from the station. Breakfast was nice and fresh, and room was decent too. Good stay all round.

Had an enjoyable time in Edinburgh and Premier inn helped with that. Ideal location and friendly staff always helpful!

Bed and the room were great, perfect location for us however sleep was disturbed by fire alarm at 8 am. Disappointed about lack of staff outside hotel to check on guests welfare. Let back into room after about 20 minutes however staff could not switch off fire alarm which kept going off intermittently for next 45 to 55 minutes. Couldn’t find a clean table or cups for tea even after 40 minutes after being let back into the hotel. Badly let down by the shambles after the fire alarm went off and think staff were not capable of looking after guests when we were evacuated from the hotel.

Ideal location and strongly recommend if visiting Edinburgh. The location is just off Princes Street. First time is a bit of a challenge to find but it’s behind the shops. Friendly staff, my only downfall and it’s a personal one is no bath. Rooms are typical Premier inn. It’s a short walk from the mile and the castle etc, the train station and tram and bus stops. There is a Sainsbury’s local 200 yards down the road if needed. If coming back to Edinburgh, would not hesitate to go here.

My Wife and I stayed at this venue for a 3rd time. The hotel is right in the City Centre making it east to use busses, teams, and trains. Staff were excellent as usual couldn't do enough for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.... Fantastic venue....

Would love to give a good review but really hard when there were 3 occasions I brought up to staff that I was overcharged for breakfast during my stay and it was not resolved. Tried at times when staff weren’t busy and with a manager. Still was overcharged. Can’t recommend.

Some descriptions online seem to indicate that the hotel is at the rear of the Waverley station but it is not. It's about 2 blocks walk from the station along Rose Street. I love Rose Street. It's the food center of Edinburgh. I especially love the famous Mussel Inn and it's a mere 2 blocks walk from the hotel. The reception is on the 1st floor like many Premier Inns nowadays. This one seemed to be manned by just 1 staff member at any time who seemed to hold multiple roles including serving at the bar. A request for extra pillows was handled quickly by the same staff member who had to go to storage to find them. Service was good. I do not however understand when you ask at 5:30pm if there's space for dinner that we were told no and all slots were taken when only 4 people were in the restaurant. Another member of staff then allowed us to order once we were willing to wait more than 20 minutes. We just don't get it. And the food came very quickly. Breakfast was the same boring basic stuff everyday. When I inquired about an omelette I was told that it wasn't possible. This seems to be synonymous with 2 star hotels across the UK these days as I had the very same experience at Travelodge where you take it or leave it and there is no deviation from what is offered as the standard breakfast. The one oversight to staff here is the cleanliness of the floor. Everywhere in the public areas there were crumbs, litter, paper; it was just unsightly and along the corridors too. There seems to be a shortage of housekeeping staff to attend to these matters. I was at the point to ask someone for a broom to help clean up!

Really nice stay at the premier inn, perfect location for exploring, everything within easy reach. Staff lovely and welcoming. Room very comfortable. Food great, ate there for breakfast and evening meal for convenience and everything was perfect.

This hotel is just off the main shopping street and minutes away from the main station, trams, buses and lots of tourist sites. It's not an impressive, decorative hotel, but it is really easy to stay in and makes a great base for visiting the centre of Edinburgh. It's ideal if you are going to Edinburgh for the city and won't be spending a lot of time enjoying the hotel facilities. We took a tram from the airport and didn't need to use transport again until we went back to the airport.
