This hotel trades off the views which are undoubtedly quite lovely. My room was clean, and bed very comfortable. Overall, this is all very acceptable and the staff are excessively helpful and attentive which can't be faulted. The location is very good albeit up a steep hill from the main street thronging with restaurants. There are some challenges that would, otherwise, make this a luxury experience... selecting TV channels on the two remotes is clunky; there is no chair in the room other than a beanbag, so lounging on the bed is the only option; there's no luggage stand, so leaving open luggage on the floor is not ideal with occasional creepy crawlies around; the light switch is not within reach of the bed; the hot water for the shower never gets beyond tepid which is ok given the hot weather; shower gel and soap is limited to one small plastic bottle and a tiny hand soap which doesn't compare to modern luxury hotels offering refillable shower and hand gel; drinking water is limited to two small bottles during your stay unless you ask for more (they are very accommodating). So, while this independent hotel is lovely and welcoming, and a cut above most local options in Ella, it's not quite a polished luxury experience if that's what you're expecting. Overall I'd recommend Hotel Onrock as a great Ella option though.
Very nice little hotel on the top of the hill. The staff was very helpful and kind, breakfast and dinner tasty. Location was great, also you could see trains passing by, what was also special beauty of this hotel. Lots of wild nature and most important peacocks in the backyard.
I've been traveling around Southeast Asia for over 10 years and staying mainly at resort hotels, and this is probably my most favorite. The layout of the entire facility and the interior of the rooms were warm and beautiful, and the rooms were immaculately cleaned, making for a very comfortable stay. Above all, the hospitality of the staff was wonderful. Priyantha came to speak with us everyday and offered assistance for transportation and ideas for lunch, which we would normally arrange on a haphazard basis, so it took off a bit of troubles from us. The taxis and tuk-tuks arranged by Priyanta were ready 5 minutes before the scheduled appointment time, which I am very grateful for. At the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel, there is a very reliable person called Sanjeeva, who was friendly yet provides smart service, and sincere that we completely fallen in love with. During our stay, he remembered our coffee preferences and brought us second cups without us having to say anything, and he did his best to explain the local ingredients and culture. We appreciated his love and pride to the hotel, but in my view, he is the one making the stay exceptional to us. He made us want to go down to the bar and have a drink to say hi to him. The town centre of Ella was a little too noisy for my husband and I, so being able to go back to our hotel room and enjoy the views of Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak in a peaceful location made a great stay. It was great to be able to open the large windows in the room and let the outside air in. There were also a mosquito repellent and many small lights to relax in the room with a drink in the evenings. Thank you for everything and hope you all have a wonderful 2024.
LLucien P. FantkeGreat service from both brothers. Fantastic view. Great guidance and explanation. We had one brother showing us the temple which you see from your window in one of the two houses. We chose the deluxe version. Wonderful balcony. Location is great for the view but it takes a little to get to downtown. You are actually in Kitalella and not Ella. 800-1000 rupees for a tuk tuk ride to get from Momo to downtown Ella. Overall fantastic experience.
ゲゲストI travel solo and I prefer quiet and peaceful places where I can't hear the noise of the city or the music from the night clubs. So Nature Nest was just perfect for me. I liked everything. The room was light and spacious, a comfortable bad, a big bathroom with hot shower and a nice balcony made my stay cozy and pleasant. And it was so nice to hear the chirping of birds outside in the morning. It took me about 10 minutes to walk down to Ella and maybe a little more to walk up. And every time the walk in the nature was nice and pleasant. Sampat and Nadeeka were really helpful, they gave me many useful tips and good advice about Ella and Sri Lanka and I just had a great time talking with them. The food they cooked was really delicious and also they were so kind to give me a cooking lesson and even a ride when I needed it. I highly recommend the Nature Nest to anyone who values comfort and calmness. And I will be glad to come back if I have such a chance.
ゲゲストWe have stayed in a family room for one night on a busy long weekend & wished we could stay longer there. With the narrow approach road & parking, which is common to the Ella area, we had doubts , but the owner Mr Manjula & his staff were attentive & had solutions to the comfort of every guest with no hazzle. Food was very tasty & served on time & though the place was full we were welcome any time with good sevice even at short notice. Room with Beddings & Bath were clean & nice and had enough space. View from the room balcony of Ella rock was pleasing & with greenery around, the birds were a plenty with their songs. Though it was a short stay, with their little input from staff we could use the time well & visited the surrounding attractions & it was time well spent. All in all we really enjoyed our stay & so a big Thank you to Rock side Inn.
We had a wonderful stay here! It's a great location for anyone travelling solo, with friends or as a family as we did. It is within walking distance to Ella Town. Our room was comfortable, clean with a lot of space on the balcony to take in the view. The best part about the room was that you can relax on your bed and take in the gorgeous view of the Ella gap. The manager Indran looked after us very well. We thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic Srilankan breakfasts he cooked! We would definitely recommend a stay at Ella Alpine to anyone visiting Ella!
