Overall impression, very nice. Check in was quick and easy. Spacious clean room, coffee maker, refrigerator, nice bathroom. Small but existing work out facilities and pool. Former is weight machine, elliptical, two treadmills. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, waffles, dry foods. Minor complaints were that the heavy curtains on our third floor room were installed to only close halfway. East side, so no sleeping in. Plus, there was an elevated off ramp right in front of our room 40 yards away, so don't do anything in the evening you don't want people paused there to glance over and watch you doing. 😁 Overall, all the important things were very good. Not expensive. Would stay here again.
The Holiday Inn - Winchester SE-Historic Gateway turned out to be a perfect and surprising sweet stopover. It was a long day's drive to get there but Marie greeted us with a big smile and wholeheartedly welcomed our kitty as well. :) It was a very nice Holiday Inn and the room was clean and relaxing. Breakfast was the ”icing on the cake” and it was because of Brandy who was our server. A terrific disposition and jovial personality on an early Monday morning. The food was delicious, as well. Clearly - an overall nice stay at this hotel and we highly recommend it.
The front desk employee was very polite & welcomed us immediately and got us checked in quickly. Hotel nice clean and quiet. The amenities were amazing especially our room with the jacuZzi tub. Breakfast was even delicious and fulfilling. We had an amazing time and definitely would come back to stay.
This is an easy review to write. First , it's a condensation of two stays. One in December 2022 and the second in February 2023. The first stay was on an AAA discounted rate. The second was on my Choice Privleges points. This was my third time using Choice Privleges points. And, by far the best experience. My December stay found the lobby very nicely decorated for Christmas. Much appreciated. Even with the fake electric fireplace! On both occasions, I was promptly greeted and checked in. Both stays were on the third floor, facing the front of the building. (Odd numbers face that side with even numbers facing the rear. And, the rear faces I-81! Beware!) Each time, my suite was comfortable and well-furnished. Despite being winter in Virginia hill country, the heating was up to the task. Sleep quality was excellent. My December stay found me checking-out into a snowstorm! While the lot was untreated, it was manageable as I have 4X4 with snow tires on all four wheels. None of the VDOT/City streets or roads were treated -let alone plowed- for that matter. Each checkout was friendly and efficient. They seem to have good people here. The rate I was charged in December was a good value. The breakfasts were a standout in terms of qiuality. The only gripe I have is that they seem to be consistent with link sausage and scrambled eggs on Thursdays. Any chance of a change as there are those of us who have to travel on the same days of the week? Having the option of Choice Hotels' ”institutional” sausage gravy would also make for a nice option. Because of having family in the area, I travel frequently to Winchester. This hotel is now my first choce. (OK, bad pun! But, my last stay at what was my first choice was a disaster. And, it is a ”Choice” property.) There are no photos with ths review because there was nothing out of the way to photograph. And, this place is really no different from so many of the better Comfort Inn and Suites locations I've stayed at. The Choice Privliges preferred parking is set-up a bit strangely with a couple of ”head-in” spaces down the sidewalk from the lobby enrtrance, and two parallel spaces to the left of the entrance. In fact, there are ”public” spaces that are nearer to the entrance, if you can snag one of those. Summary: Strongest possible recommend.
