Traveled with a tour group who arranged our accommodations. My first impression was that this was student housing. There were signs with a dress code specifying the shoes are required….also saw a lot of university age people coming in and out. Seem to have a variety of room types, some with kitchenettes. We had a twin room which was comfortable but a bit worn out. The dining was nice. Since we had just one night we were happy with the travel stop.
We were there for 2 nights. Lovely staff, friendly and seemed happy going about their work. The only negative comment I can make is that the walk from the lift to my room was very dated and dark. The room itself had everything we needed and was clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. I would stay at this hotel again.
The hostel was easy to spot on the corner of the Square when i got off the bus at the station and it was a warm welcome and efficient check in to a clean and airy room with a view onto the corner of Ayre Square. The beds were comfy enough and the bathrooms were clean. I appreciated the breakfast, which was simple but ample, and with a slight local twist. The atmosphere was good in the hostel throughout my 3 days there, and this is in part due to work of the staff. I'd particularly like to mention Tom, who was always friendly and provided good tips and suggestions when asked. The only drawback would come if you are a light sleeper. It's in a great location but remember it's a hostel in Galway right above a bar. It does get quiet for a few hours before daybreak at least. I did feel tired after 3 nights. I would go back though, but maybe for one or two night next time!
