ザ ボニー バジャー(The Bonnie Badger)

This was our 3rd stay at this gem of a boutique hotel (with another already lined up!) On this trip we brought our French Bulldog, and Bonnie Badger was brilliantly accommodating with a dog-friendly room including bed, bowl and treats, as well as access to a private garden from our room. We enjoyed Afternoon Tea and dinner during our stay, and both were delicious. I'd also highlight the multi-course breakfast experience which is just fabulous and sets you up for the day. We spent many an hour on Gullane's vast expanse of beach blowing away the cobwebs and our dog letting off steam. The Bonnie Badger never disappoints and consistently delivers the perfect combination of comfy, luxurious accommodation, delicious food and friendly, professional service in a lovely location.

This is a lovely pub with some delightful rooms. The welcome is great and the rooms are warm and inviting. We were lucky enough to stay in the Ridge Suite and if you want a special night then book this room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower perfect. However the real plus was the breakfast as I do not remember having a better breakfast anywhere. The food was just superb and the service exemplary. Parking is easy around the back of the pub on the green. And the bar area so relaxing. Thanks for a perfect stay !

From the moment we stepped though the door we were made to feel like special guests, the welcome was genuinely friendly and personal. My wife is celiac (gluten intolerant) and every eating experience during our stay was beautifully thought through - from the canapes, to the meal, to our little night time gift to our parting treat. In all our years we have never experienced such attention to detail. The room itself was superb, beautifully fitted out with a real individual taste, with lots of lovely touches. We cannot praise the whole team highly enough, from management to waiting staff - you all made our (all too brief!) stay memorable and wonderful. The location is also great, with lovely walks and a beautiful beach. We will be back!

We booked the DBEB rate at the start of the Jubilee weekend, included was a welcome drink, 3 course dinner, bottle of house wine and bed & breakfast in a dog friendly room. The room was cosy & well appointed, with a dog bed, blanket, 1 dog bowl (we asked for a 2nd) so we could feed our pup & all the usual bathroom amenities you would expect including hand written welcome cards & local info. The hotel is located a 5/10 min walk from the beach, the weather was glorious so on arrival we headed straight out after a cpl hours spent in the car. We enjoyed our welcome drink & snacks in the beautiful south facing beer garden before heading for dinner. Food was fabulous & the choices included in the pre fix menu were impressive: scallops, beef tartar, lamb chops…. After dinner, we enjoyed a night cap in the bar before turning in….. our room was turned down with home made blueberry & elderflower tea & cookies in the room. Lovely touch. After an early walk on the beach, we sat down for b’fast in the garden (usually served in the dining room) but the weather was too nice. They accommodated our request without hesitation. B’fast was substantial to say the least: tea/coffee/juice; granola, compote & yogurt, anti pasti plate of smoked salmon, cheese, cured meats, avocado & tomatoes followed by a cooked breakfast from an a la carte menu, toast & jam. We were stuffed & setup for the day! On check out, we were handed a carrier bag with bottled water & home made flapjacks which we saved for our walk later that day, they were quite possibly the best we’ve ever tasted. The attention to detail & the little things is what makes this pub with rooms an absolute treat. There’s no extra charge to take your pup which is a 1st for us & honestly quite rare! Can’t say enough good things, we would return in a heartbeat. Well done Tom, Michaela & team BB!

We had a fantastic experience at the Bonnie Badger. Upon arrival, all of the staff are so friendly and helpful. Our room was modern and comfortable with lovely thoughtful details. The food was absolutely fantastic- we had lunch, dinner and breakfast and every single plate was scraped clean. Worth every penny. We cannot wait to return.

Exceptional stay at this lovely hotel with dinner. From arrival till departure, without exception, the staff were superb - polite, engaging and very pleasant. The room was terrific too with all relevant amenities. Dinner was terrific. Very tasty and well presented. Breakfast followed suite. Top notch stay, and would recommend to all.

We stayed for two nights in one of the cottages at the back of the hotel. We were meant to stay in a loft room as per our booking, however we had no issues staying in the cottage. It was such a lovely room, spacious and well decorated. The service was good and all staff were friendly. Pricey but in our opinion with it.

This place promises much, and in our opinion, delivers! A friendly welcome and we were shown to our room. We stayed in one of the cottages at the back (suitable for visitors with dogs, like us) and these are an excellent standard - super comfy bed and great bathroom. The bar is welcoming and has a good selection of drinks, incl cocktails, and the Stables restaurant is excellent - good menu, great cooking, excellent service. Breakfast the next morning was of a similar standard. All in all a lovely stay, and thoroughly recommended.

A one night stay at Bonnie Badger. Having eaten at The Kitchen previously, this was perhaps a nostalgia visit with high expectations. Sadly, it wasn't to be near that level. The greeting on arrival was high level, warm and welcoming. Good information and briefed on everything. Room - nice, cosy contemporary decoration, but for me quite small, peeling paint on the ceiling and a worn out rug on the floor wasn't the scene I was expecting. For £215a night, I was looking for a little more, despite the nice touches in certain areas. Bar & Garden Room - good atmosphere, fairly priced drinks and warm. Staff worked hard and made best efforts to accommodate. However, as a paying guest for an overnight stay and a dinner reservation, it's not pleasant to be moved from bar to garden room across 3 different tables due to bookings from others. Granted, people had booked tables, but why move in the first place to just move again. I would like to think residential guests, paying for a day of drinks, then dinner and a room would have their custom as valued as walk ins, or those just in for a bar meal. That said, it's not bad to sit and relax in. Dinner / Food - decent quality, fairly priced, but nothing like The Kitchen (if that's what you expect). Overall a nice 3 course meal. The only con, waiting over an hour between starter and main, when restaurant not even 50% full. Strange. Still, the £52 bottle of wine passed the time. Breakfast - good quality, well presented, waitress was very pleasant and welcoming. Check out- simple, no issues and quick. Nice touch on the leaving gift of water and flapjack. Unsure if I would come again but glad I gave it a go. Enjoyed the cocktails and oysters most of all. Overall, £515 spent on room, dinner and drinks with the main takeaway; could do better for that price I believe
