ザ ブルズ ヘッド ホテル(The Bulls Head and Lodge)

We normally avoid budget hotels so the Bulls Head at Hale Barns priced at £135 per night seemed to be a good choice. Wrong. After a 4 hour drive we arrived at 2pm and went into the Bulls Head pub for lunch as check in was 3pm. After lunch we walked across to the hotel part and I gave the receptionist my name and the reply was "you can't check in until 3pm". We sat down for the 15 minutes to await the clock to strike. There then followed some discussion with cleaning staff. Aparently our room had been missed but "we can give hem no 21" was heard. Before we arrived I received a lovely e mail askingif there was anything they could do to further make our stay more pleasant. I did reply on this ocassion as I am 8 months into cancer treatment and asked if I could hve an extra blanket as I felt the cold and some ginger ale in the room to help with feeling of sickness sometimes. I also find it difficult to manage stairs and walk very far. We were given a very tiny room up the stairs and along 2 or maybe 3 corridors which was very grey and black with inadequate lighting and with a view of scaffolding and building works. No extra blanket. No ginger ale. After much discussion an extra blanket but no ginger ale. Breakfast - Started with cup exchange for one without sticky stuff. Table with cereral and juice to help yourself but no fruit. From the menu I chose the full English without black pudding and a fried egg turned over as I don't like it runny. Egg came not turned over and snotty. The waitress said she would bring another. I ordered white toast and my husband brown. He got a toast rack full and I got one slice on top of my breakfast plate which consisted of half a mushroom, half a tomato, one sausge and smoked (only smoked) bacon. The waitress arrived sometime later with two white rubbery things on a plate which I assume were supposed to be eggs. Perhaps a budget hotel charging budget prices would have been the better option

food in Bulls Head was not good served cold and manager did not care it was my wifes birthday and food was cold and even the custard was cold The lady Manager did not care and offered us £5 discount the total meal cost was about £90 we will not go back

Beautiful modern rooms, spotlessly clean, lovely home touches like fresh fruit and biscuits available. The manager was outstanding and really went out of her way to help me with something. I always come here when I am working away.

Recently had a surprise 60th birthday party in the Bull’s Head upstairs function room - great room, not too big or too small and fabulous outside terrace if the weather’s good (Nov was not!) Lovely food too and very attentive staff. Would definitely use again 👍

This place has it all. Fabulous staff, food & accommodation. Placed a last minute booking & nothing was too much trouble. Bedrooms are superb, fresh milk is obtained from a mini flask in reception for your tea/coffee in your room. We will definitely stay again

We celebrated my wife’s birthday at the Bull’s Head in the function room, Service, quality of the food was excellent and the quantity was more than a lot of us could manage. Overall we had an exceptional celebration thanks to the staff.

Generally good but a few points needed addressing. The check in was slow due to payment issues followed by security concerns. We were on the ground floor and the windows were wide open enabling anyone or anything to gain entry. The room was clean as was the bathroom. The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay and there was a dangerous issue with the kettle switching itself on and off during the night. A faulty switch! No charging points by the bed was annoying too. Food was ok but service at breakfast very slow. It served its purpose but no more than that.

We had a drink but did not know about registering our car consequently we have a £100 fine reduced to £60 if we pay within 14 days, absolutely disgusting! I certainly would not go there again even if it was the only pub in the area and I certainly will let all my local friends and family know

We stayed the night - room was comfortable but we ate in the restaurant and were charged considerably more than we should have been as we were charged not only for our meal but that of the previous diners at the table as well. We queried the bill and were told it would be remedied with a credit for the incorrect amount ( approximately £40) We were therefore rather surprised that our credit card was charged with £80 over and above the actual cost of our meal Emails and telephone calls to management not returned. Disappointing
