We had the hotel basically just for us (there was just 1 other guest that left the next mornign). Unfortunately the pandemic hit hard in Sri Lanka which resulted in many hotels closing for 2 years. When we arrived it looked like they were not even expecting us, and we had to wait for the room to be prepared. Nevertheless, they quickly called reinforces and prepared everything for our stay. The hotel is very isolated, which is great to relax. The beach is just unbelievably calm, relaxing and stunning. You can be swimming while seeing monkeys in the palm trees, and without seeing any other tourist for hours and hours (contrary to Unawatuna and Mirissa areas). The dinner was delicious and carefully prepared. The staff is also lovely, and we could see they are doing their best to start recovering the business. The only reasons I can't give 5 stars to this are: the clear lack of maintenance in the hotel (many parts need an urgent fix and restructure) and also, they just changed the bed sheets of one of our beds while preparing the room. When I went to sleep in the single bed, I realized it was all dirty, with dozens of small dead bugs (inside and outside of the bed/sheets) and mold. However, we called the man in service that night, and he quickly changed the bed sheets. You have EVERYTHING it takes to become a 5* place, just PLEASE do some maintenance and be more careful with hygiene. I believe this was due to the fact they were closed for 2 years, and didn't had costumers since the reopening in that room. But everything else is fantastic.
Picked up from the airport, very nice to be so unburdened. We were welcomed with a delicious fruit juice and a nice breakfast, nothing is missing. Within a few minutes you are on a beautiful beach, very impressive! In the evening we enjoyed a night walk accompanied by a guide from the turtle watch. An absolute must! On request you can take the tuk-tuk to another beach bar near Tangalle or a guesthouse / hotel with a swimming pool on the beach where you can stay for a day. Thanks Mr. Rukman, Taxa and your wife for everything! So are you looking for a nice place? We recommend you to go here!
ゲゲストThe place is absolutely beautiful, the nature I love it. The staffs are amazing as well, we were greeted and welcome by Gayan in the gate, and we were given the signature cookies with mango juice. The rooms were good, love the pool very big my daughter loves it. The life guards are amazing as well, the breakfast food selections is nice and there’s a lot of options, all the staffs are amazing I forgot there names. We also had a spa massage Wika and Dayu were amazing, they are nice and they have a good hands…massage was 100/100. I will be leaving our last review when we leave. So far we enjoyed our stay so much.
The sweetest husband and wife hosted us. They made delicious dinner for us, we were very tired from our journey to Yala and had a very long day. The food was ready, the rooms were ready and clean. They also arranged a Safari for us. The jeep came well before time, they had packed some fruits for us. We saw elephants, peacocks, lots of different birds, deer's, buffalos, monkeys. We really wanted to see a leopard, so we kept telling our driver that we want to see. We had almost given up and were towards the end of our journey. But, we were so so lucky that we saw four leopards. We came back to our home and the lunch was prepared. We were very tired and hungry, and we were welcomed with delicious lunch. Both of them were very kind, hospitable, I would definitely go there again.
ゲゲストMy friend and I stayed here last month and it was just perfect for out time in Yala! Dhanuska He was beyond helpful and we really enjoyed being in the wonderful space he and his team have created. He couldn't help us enough. It was a really calm, tranquil place to be but still easy to get to town and of course perfectly located for safari, which Dhanuska can help you with too. And see a buffalo herd heading home across the lake at the bottom of the garden during sunset was just magical, the icing on the cake! Would definitely return!
We had a pleasant two night stay at the Blue Turtle Hotel. The room was decent and clean enough, though a bit dark. The bathroom was very spacious. The pool was nice, though not sparkling clean. The restaurant was good, and despite what some other reviews say, we found the food to be fine. As we had paid for breakfast with the room, they kindly packed it to take with us when we left at 4.30am for a safari. The staff were very attentive, and the manager even supported us with directions to drive to Dikwella as we were checking out. The location of the hotel is not that great, though it does the job for people who need to stay in the area in order to be picked up for a safari. On a separate note, it is quite shocking (and off-putting) to see how defensive (and borderline rude) some of the hotel's responses are to the less favourable reviews on here. Especially those highlighting challenges relating to accessibility etc. The hotel should remember that platforms like this are not only channels to make valid complaints, but also for guests to share their experiences to help others who might have specific requirements.
ゲゲストMy wife and I booked this hotel months ago to get one of the superior chalets for our stay. We were in Sri Lanka and a few days before this booking was to start I got a message from the Ravan to say there had been an overbooking error and we were being moved to a superior double with a private balcony and the price would be reduced appropriately. On arrival our superior double was probably the worst room in the hotel. The bathroom smells like an open sewer and our private balcony was the open corridor outside our room which had a couple of chairs, judging by the full ashtrays this was clearly smokers corner. When I said this was unacceptable they said they had another room to show me. This turned out to be a completely different hotel and I was expected to pay extra as this was more expensive. Again I refused. We were then left sitting in the corridor with our cases. I then had to run around looking for somewhere to stay. Not exactly what I planned. I would be very reluctant to take this hotels word for anything as even a confirmed booking is no guarantee.
