This is my second time at Henlow. I booked a two night stay. I upgraded upon booking to a superior double. I was given room 42 which is next to the fitness studio. I noticed that a lot of people stop here to talk, and I planned to spend a lot of time in my room as I was studying. When I started to unpack I noticed a mold on the wall and curtains and the room was generally very tired. I asked at reception and they kindly moved me to Room 11, which is in the manor house. It was a much nicer room, but still a little tired. The staff here are excellent. They are friendly and professional. They say hello to you when they see you in a corridor. The staff in the restaurant are welcoming and attentive. Toby in the cafe area was a delight. The thing about Henlow is that the staff are carrying it. They make it. But the building really needs a good overhaul now. I understand that the Manor House is an old building, but it could still be better maintained. I paid a lot of money to visit and at times it felt like a Travelodge. I think if the management of Champneys spent a week there and really looked at the place with fresh eyes, they could see where things could change for the better. The robes no longer have security tags on, which is lovely! The food is delicious and plentiful. I would rather not have to pay £3 to book a class either - I feel like this should be included - or even a limit of 2 classes a day before you pay? I am not sure I will return to Henlow - which is a shame. But it just needs a facelift
