We stayed for a week's skiing in late January, early February. We arrived and thought the location looked good. It's set back from the main pedestrian street in Hinterglemm. We had a nice balcony at the front. Even better, it's only a 200 meter walk to one of the main gondolas. However, we like to keep our window open overnight. We discovered that the Hotel's apparently quiet pedestrian street was anything but that overnight. On about 3 nights in our week, we were troubled by noisy revellers after midnight. On one night I heard a nearby bar blaring out music still at 04:30am (yes I'm talking about you Dodo). Then, if it has snowed (which it did a lot our week), the snow clearing starts with the earliest scraping noises from 05:00 am. We asked the lady owner about the noise. She says that they have asked the bar owners to keep the noise down on many occasions. They do for a few days and then it starts up again. I do feel sorry for them on this. Can the authorities not enforce something? Our room was simple with comfortable beds. The bathroom was very dated, but worked pretty well (the shower didn't maintain its position well). There was plenty of hot water. The service was very efficient but not always friendly. Meals were served and cleared up in a timely manner. We needed a couple of light bulbs replacing in our room and requested extra pillows. This was all done promptly with no fuss. On the other hand, one of our party brought a metal water bottle to our group's dinner one night and had it confiscated from behind her back. When she asked if they had it, she was informed it was against their policy to allow outside bottles at dinner. Fair enough, but it felt rather roughly dealt with. Perhaps it all got lost in translation. She got her bottle back. One issue that they have is that the bar/ lounge and dining room double up. So, if you want to stay chatting after dinner you can't stay at your table after 10pm because they need to lay it for breakfast. The food was good. Breakfast has a reasonable choice of cereals, breads, cheeses, cold meats and there are a couple of hot dishes. Dinner comes with a choice of main courses - always meat or vegetarian. The quality of the meat was very good. I'd say the value for money is average compared to where we have stayed in the Sud Tirol over recent years. But I'm probably out of date with Austrian prices. They say they are refurbishing the Hotel and perhaps trying to make a separate bar area. I think this and a general spruce up of the rooms will help a lot. Somehow I hope they can deal with the noisy bar. They deserve better from their neighbours. Despite my comments, I liked them. They work long hours. I wish them luck.
