I booked through Trip.com, made a mistake with the date, and called directly to request a change. The hotel owner said that the room was no longer available, EVEN ON THE DAY I BOOKED. They suggested that I cancel. I agreed.
I requested to cancel through the Trip app and received an email response that the hotel owner DID NOT AGREE TO CANCEL. I called back and said that Trip needed proof that the hotel owner agreed to cancel with me in order to work with the owner again. This time, the owner said they would only work with Traveloka (probably because Traveloka is affiliated with Trip) and would not help me confirm the cancellation. Their tone was very unpleasant.
