I stayed at the Rodeway Inn when my Air BnB host canceled on me no-notice without any explanation. I reluctantly booked the Rodeway Inn as a last-minute place to stay, since it was the cheapest, and all the other hotels / Air BnBs were booked full - I think there was a college football game going on in College Station, which is what spiked the prices for everything else in the local area. The pros: Easy to locate off I-45 and I-30 if you're heading from Bryan / College Station. The front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful. Plenty of place to park. Free Wi-Fi, basic cable TV Microwave & mini-fridge in the room Minimal foot traffic of people passing through / wandering aimlessly. Nice outdoor pool. The cons: The room I booked had a strong mildew odor, and the carpet by the front door area was soaking wet. The smoke detector on the wall was missing. Crumbs everywhere on the tables / flat surfaces A/C vents hadn't been cleaned in ages. When I rinsed them out in the bathtub, the bathtub would not drain. I had to speak with the front desk and the handy man snaked the tub on the spot. Mold in the bathroom ceiling Floor hadn't been vacuumed in quite some time. In the end, the hotel manager apologized and offered us a better room....but.... Room phone was left unplugged and the phone received looked like coffee had been spilled on it. Lamps by the bed didn't function because the electric cable had been cut. As easy as it may be to blast a low-budget hotel here on TripAdvisor, I believe it would be inappropriate. From what I see, the hotel has fallen on hard times and truly needs better funding by its parent corporation. The cleaning staff are cut down to two people during daytime hours, and the manager is constantly walking around, being proactive. It's not easy to run the daily operations of a hotel if you don't have the people or the money, and I get that. Still, to knowingly place guests in such horrible conditions is unacceptable. Other telltale signs of wear and tear lead me to believe that most of the hotel is not in use. I wouldn't stay here again, now knowing what I know. If you do stay here, do so at your own risk.
