A group of friends, we had this booked for a number of months. However with the extremely bad weather forecasts (which turned out to be accurate) for the Thursday 8 February, we had little option but to cancel. We cancelled at fairly short notice the day before, so in a worst case scenario expected that we might lose our deposits. However, with no empathy or regard to our circumstances the proprietor required the full amount of the booking. When we 'baulked' at this and suggested a credit towards a future booking, the proprietor simply took the amount (without any authorisation) from the credit card used for the booking, a total of £1170, and pointed out the booking terms and conditions, that required 14 days notice of cancellation before the arrival date. Our custom of the past meant nothing to them and neither did the fact that they would lose custom for the future. Is this really the way to run a business?
