Kannur West Beach Homestay

Our 4th visit to this lovely homestay on the beach. After travelling around India it is great to return to this lovely homestay to relax in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation is old and rustic and in an amazing setting overlooking the ocean and a beautiful quiet beach. Each room has a lovely balcony with a superb view. What draws us back here is the welcome that we get from Rosi and Nazir and the delicious homecooked food. We think that the food here is the best we have tasted anywhere in India. Meals are taken at the communal dining table with Rosi on hand to let you know what each dish is, there is always plenty of choice. Eating communally gives you the opportunity to talk to your fellow guests and learn about their travels. We love relaxing in the hammocks in the garden and swimming in the sea but we also enjoy walking and exploring and from here you can walk in ***y directions or Rosi will arrange a Tuc Tuc for you. Nothing is too much bother for her. We will be back.

We had a lovely stay at Kannur Beach House. The location is great between a pristine beach and backwaters. Breakfast and dinner were excellent , served in communal dining area, perfect opportunity to have a chat with the lovely hosts and other guests. Thank you so much Rosie and Nazir! I was recommended Kannur Beach House by another traveller and am so happy I followed her advice! I was welcomed so warmly by Nazir and Rosi at their rustic Homestay which sits in a coconut grove. My room had a stunning view of palm trees and the beach and I think I may have eaten my best food in India at theirs. Truly incredible! The house is old and rustic with gorgeous original wooden doors and shutters and lovely hand woven Kannur bed linens. The beach is minutes away and totally secluded and Rosi was really helpful with ideas about how I could spend my time in Kannur. Thank you! 100% recommended.

This very special, unique homestay with wonderful hosts and food, you will not forget....and you will probably want to return very soon, like I did. This is a beautiful home in such an incredible location, right by the unspoilt beach, a lagoon and the river. It is peaceful with mainly birdsong to listen to, and Rosi is always helpful and sorts everything out for you in a very generous, organised and relaxed way. The food is homecooked, delicious, healthy and always varied. There are always ***y different local dishes, and Rosi is there to tell you what you are enjoying! Rosi will help you relax and fill your time here in all different ways- making suggestions for ayurvedic massages to helping with booking transport. She is someone I feel very happy and grateful to have met in my life. So it's a 5* experience! An authentic, homely place with a chance to meet others and have interesting conversations at dinner. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This homestay is my heaven on earth! Rosi and Nazir are the hosts that make you feel as if you were at home, except that you get 5+ sorts of food each morning and night. The food here is definitely some of the best after a month of travelling in southern India. Rooms with lovely balconies where you can enjoy the beach and sunset, or if it’s too hot hide inside with the ac. All and all, I have yet to meet or hear of someone not returning to this homestay after their first visit!

This was an amazing experience! Our host Sha was the loveliest and most helpful *** you can imagine. He helped us to find good theyyams and is neighbour has a great rickshaw service. The food was fantastic. Good value for money. We made a booking directly on the homestay website, so maximum value will go to the family itself.

The best view to wake up to, delicious and delectable food to look forward to every breakfast and dinner and great banter with other guests during meal times! The hosts, Nazir and Rosi are incredibly welcoming, made us feel at home instantly, and was so open to sharing local knowledge of places, culture and every other random topic that came up. The beach is beautiful and water warm; there are other nice beaches as well to the left and right of Thottada beach where we walked to. On weekend evenings, the beach does get a little busy, but nothing crazy. We got to go to a theyyam as well - and we were mesmerized by the whole ritual; everything from the dance to the drumming to the early morning tuk tuk ride to the small grove it was happening at was a great experience. Rosi helped us with booking our onwards journeys by train and organized transport for all the times we wanted to go to Kannur city (handloom centres, etc etc). We stayed in one of the second floor room - simple room with picturesque view out to the river mouth, beach and the sea!

I loved staying at Kannur Beach House, this was my first trip to India. The hosts were wonderful and the food was absolutely amazing and home cooked local fare and each meal consisted of multiple delicious, nutritious dishes with plenty of variety. It was a delight to share meals with Rosi and Nazir who were interesting, knowledgeable and informative hosts. Their local knowledge is extensive and Rosi was so helpful with suggestions for really interesting places to visit and help with travel arrangements. What an idyllic spot! The house is set in a good sized plot full of tropical plants and coconut palms, overlooking a clean and quiet beach. The accomodation is rustic, with good basic facilities, including an ensuite wet room with western toilet. We stayed for 2 weeks (including a week of a private art and yoga retreat) and it would have loved to be there for longer. I'm not sure if I will be able to get back to India again but this would be my first choice to go if I do. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay 🙏
