What a friendly reception when we arrived: a very friendly lady checked us in and upgraded us. How nice! The room we got was huge and had a sort of English/American vibe: all plush and grand. The views of the water were beautiful and it was a real pleasure to have breakfast on the terrace. The hotel was not very close to the city center, but it was easy to get there by car and parking was no problem.

A very memorable anniversary weekend at the most stunning hotel. Lovely room with the most magnificent view, attentive friendly staff, delicious food nothing to fault at all. Wonderful wonderful stay highly recommended we will definitely be back

Terrific smart hotel with superb rooms and friendly professional staff. Smart TV, nice views, comfortable lounge, great breakfast, attractive pool and gardens. Free boat trip a nice little extra. Close to several good restaurants. Will stay here again.

What a lovely location and such a welcoming hotel. Norman and the team made us feel special from the moment we arrived until we departed. The room was generous, well serviced, full of amenities and so comfortable and the hotel common areas well thought out. Perched on the lagoon we had breakfast overlooking the water and it was a well stocked breakfast bar backed up by great cooked options. Nothing seemed too much work and we would have no hesitation recommending this to any of our friends who want a place to explore Knysna, Wilderness or Plett from.

Beautiful setting brilliant staff and service. Very comfortable large rooms with a view. This is our second stay at the hotel and will most definitely return. Had a lovely boat trip on the Lego on courtesy of the hotel. Great breakfasts and easy access to restaurants. Fantastic

Sandy, the manager, & all the team at the truly wonderful, beautiful, and calm lagoon side setting of of the St James Hotel in Knysna, made us so welcome during a recent difficult time for myself & my husband. Previously to staying at the St James we were in the nearby resort town of Plettenberg Bay when my husband became seriously ill and was admitted to the excellent Life Knysna Private Hospital for 5 days. I needed to find a hotel nearby to the hospital, and very fortunately moved into this stunning boutique property. Sandy & her team gave me comfort and support in every way possible during my husband's hospital stay, and after he was discharged he recuperated for a further 8 days at the hotel. This truly was a home from home experience, and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The location is arguably the best in Knysna, the rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable with stunning views, we had the Lady Anne Suite, the food on offer was always fresh and inviting, and the Service truly friendly & superb. We took advantage of the complimentary boat trip around the lovely Knysna Lagoon, a haven for birds and sea mammals including seals & dolphins. Hopefully our future travels will allow us to return to enjoy the St James Hotel again.

We gad an excellent 4 nights stay at St. James of Knysna! Every detail was well thought of and organised by Sandy and the lovely team. Breakfast on the terrace was a treat, with fresh fruit and choices for all tastes. Overall top stay.

Nice loacation though a little outside... Excellent staff, very kind and friendly, warm welcome. Well guided by Sandy and her team. No restaurant but snacks and platters available for dinner with a very good selection of wines!

We first stayed at St James of Knysna on our SA holiday in 2018. We both very much enjoyed our stay on that occasion, but noted that our spacious suite was in need of renovation. Fast forward five years, and a significant renovation of the whole hotel has taken place. We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. The staff at this hotel are outstanding. The suites very spacious. An excellent breakfast can be enjoyed either in the garden room, or outside, overlooking the estuary. Informal bar meals are available, with a number of options where you may wish to eat them. A most enjoyable, complimentary boat trip around the estuary is available. Most definitely the highlight of our SA holiday.
