We recently stayed at Gezellig Inn - Kanyal Villas and were left feeling disappointed on two fronts. While the room itself was decent and spacious but we were surprised to be charged extra for a balcony, this felt unnecessary, especially since the base price of the room seemed high already. It felt misleading and not worth the additional cost. However, the bigger issue was the complete lack of facilities for drivers. ***y tourists travel with a driver, and with temperatures dipping below zero at night, it was completely unacceptable that the hotel offered no designated rest area or even a paid driver's room. All drivers were forced to sleep in his car in the freezing cold, which is simply inhu***e. This lack of consideration for such an essential part of our travel experience really put a damper on our stay. For a hotel charging a premium, basic amenities for drivers should be a given. Our stay was unfortunately marred by the extra charges for the balcony, the lack of driver accommodations, and the expensive food. While the room itself was nice, these issues left us feeling like we didn't get good value for our money. We would strongly recommend the hotel reconsider its policy on balcony surcharges, find a solution for driver rest areas and clearly communicate driver accommodation policies on booking platforms also, and work on offering more affordable dining options. This hotel could be a great choice for travellers with a car, but only if they address the concerns mentioned above. If you're on a tight budget or have a driver with you, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
