グランド イースタン ホテル(Grand Eastern Hotel)

The Grand Eastern is set around a lovely courtyard, the building is beautiful and the location is perfect. Unfortunately, the property is poorly maintained, plumbing is very weak, and cleanliness is not up to standards. While some staff members are helpful and friendly, other are plain rude. This place could be a gem but needs some effort from management and staff.

I was at the GEH earlier this month and I have been coming back to this particular hotel and the Friendly north since 2012. Unfortunately this time I had experienced downgrade in cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel - extremely rundown. Further more one particular staff member at reception, Sonia was extremely rude on our 1st day when requested help to contact my driver as we did not have a local phone. She was extremely rude and advised this service can not be provided, yet the lady who assisted me upon check in the previous afternoon, helped me out and called my driver and went above and beyond to help us. Further more Sonia yelled at me the day of my checkout in front of other staff and customers, advising me that I have cleared my bill. It wasn't even 10am and we were still packing. I was in shock when she spoke to me in this manner. This was a real shame as I did love coming to stay at this hotel and have met some lovely staff there. The pool was dirty and the water had a smell. Even the shower water had a smell. We ended up going to another place for shower.

There are basic things one expects when they check in to a hotel, a clean room, a nice bed to sleep on and I cannot believe I hate to say this but water supply. While the staff were lovely and room was clean this hotel had water issues. Every night the water went out, one night the pump was broken the other mornings and nights I had to tell the staff to turn on the pump so we could shower. I have traveled to some really underdeveloped countries and stayed in hotels that rely on rainwater harvesting for water supply in the middle of the drought and yet never experienced the problem I faced here. I think it is extremely embarrassing to have a hotel and not be able to supply water to your guests.

The staff are lovely and helpful. The place is simply run down. Needs a good overall sprucing and major scrub. Bed is not too comfy. It is nicely located in city centre.

Liked location and they provide shuttle service to abd and fro to airport. Had cold showers hot water was not available. Advised front desk. Bar staff not friendly. Ordered meal and she said once ready restaurant staff will deliver in the bar .waited for half and hour than had to go to the restaurant to pick it myself.

Condition of the hotel is pretty appalling. Bathrooms are pathetic. Nothing has improved since my last visit 5 years back. In fact it may have become worse. Staff are super slow, and they didn’t even give towels or blankets. Had to ask multiple times. On the last day, the housekeeper was nice and finally gave us everything. Wouldn’t recommend the place but then there are no other places in the area. Hope they improve the facilities.

Great customer service from pre check in to dining staff and from check out.

I came for work, so found the hotel ideal for the purpose. Bed was nice and room was clean. The food is good too. Apart from some noise from neighbors is was a good stay. Id go again.
