Lovely large self contained unit with kitchen. Good bathroom but weak shower. Spotlessly clean. Heating just not adequate for cold conditions and owners response to our request for a solution was disappointing. Parking good but rough gravel meant carrying bags. Very isolated. Bring everything.

The property is in amazing location and the views from the front window are fantastic. You look straight out onto the Loch.

The owners, Craig and Sue, are very friendly and accommodating. Two locals were in the bar watching rugby and visited with us. Told us about the area. Had some good conversation and laughs. Would definitely stay there again!

This property is in a beautiful little spot. Amazing view from the room and all the peaceful relaxing we could ask for. Room was clean and came equipped with everything needed for self catering

In all my travels across numerous countries some poor , some rich I have never encountered such poor levels of service and poor attitude. My 5th hotel on my drive around Scotland. Until this experience I have enjoyed amazing times. They call it a restaurant, more like a menu of bar snacks. Attitude if bar man less than impressive. Not sure they are called to be in hospitality.

I really enjoyed staying at Altnacealgach and look forward to returning next autumn. The room was bright, airy, sparkling clean and well equipped; the bed was comfortable and there was a large window with fabulous views. The owners are friendly and create a warm atmosphere.

The host was very obliging and we had an excellent meal the room was comfortable and well equiped and great loch side location

I really enjoyed my stay here and have to say that it exceeded my expectations. As a solo traveller on a bicycle, it’s really hard to find affordable accommodation around here that’s not a hostel. As soon as I turned up, the owners showed me where I could store my bike. I was really happy with the room - fairly simple but everything you need and spotlessly clean. There’s even a handy inventory to show you what’s in the kitchen. Loved the little TV area and the view of the loch is beautiful. You can even swim in it! As you’d expect for a remote location, there’s no phone signal or 4G but you can get on the Wi-Fi network in the bar next door. It was actually quite nice not having phone signal in the room! There’s an information manual in the room which I actually really enjoyed reading - some nice personal touches! You can buy breakfast, lunch and dinner from the pub next door which is also owned by the motel owners. The prices are incredibly reasonable. In fact, it’s probably one of the only places left where a pint costs less than £5. The food is really tasty too.

Beautiful and quiet location on your NC500 trip. The room was large, appeared to have had a recent renovation and it was sparkling clean. There is free parking at the rear of the property. Very friendly staff members graciously answered all of our queries. The bartender stayed with us for an additional 30 minutes even though the restaurant closed at 9 PM. I would advise carrying a bug repellent spray with you because, probably due to the lake, you may anticipate getting bitten by millions of Scottish midge flies when temperatures are higher. Overall, I'd come back and heartily recommend the place.
