8827maximvThis is a unique hotel experience. We have visited several Ryokans (traditional Japanese inns), and this one is particularly traditional. The antique funicular that takes you up to the higher floors and to the onsen. The traditional room set-up with tatami. And of course, the very personal touch of everyone working there providing wonderful hospitality and making you feel welcome. The general manager (Mr. Inaba), in particular, went above and beyond to ensure we understood all the features of the inn and could get the most enjoyment out of our experience. His English is excellent, and he is easy to talk to. He explained how to get to various attractions, and drove us to the train station, when it was time for us to leave. Incidentally, the inn is only an 11 minute walk from the train station. So if you are traveling light, it is a pleasant walk to and from the inn. Although we did not have time to have dinner at the inn, the multi-course breakfast (served in our room) was luxurious and enjoyable. Most highly recommended, if you would like to experience a traditional ryokan.
