After being checked in to the Hilton next door for an hour and a half everything went dark and even dingier. This was very unfortunate because we were in the middle of trying to get ready for our engagement pictures. We looked outside of our window to see light rain and the lights on at Sleep Inn. After going down to the lobby we were told we would be without electricity for another 4 hours minimum due to a generator that hadn’t been repaired or clearly maintained. We called Sleep Inn and spoke to Raven at the front desk. She informed us that they did in fact have full electricity and had plenty of room to accommodate us. She was super friendly with a great sense of humor and even a better price than the Hilton. We packed up and went down to check out after speaking to Hilton Corporate office who told us that under the circumstances a refund would not be an issue. After handing our keys in we were informed that the manager had decided NO REFUNDS due to a “natural disaster” that somehow didn’t affect Sleep Inn less than 100 yards away. Needless to say they were not going to hold us hostage in a hot, dirty, dark, and rude place. We will handle the refund issue with Hilton at a later time. I am so happy we left and moved next door to your establishment. It was much cleaner, you hadn’t run out of toiletries (as they had), our bathroom was actually clean, your staff was great, we slept comfortably and we were able to get our engagement photos done. My only regret is that we didn’t choose you first. Thank you so much for a great stay and hiring great people like Raven!
We came from South Carolina to pick up our daughter from Army basic training. From the moment we arrived the people at the front desk treated us with cordiality, the room was clean and tidy as we expected and the most impressive thing for us was the cleanliness of this place and the courtesy of the old lady in the breakfast room, she made us feel right at home. I don't know if we will ever return to this small town but we have a nice memory of our stay.
