HOTEL DE L ABBAYE

I like the different style of this hotel. However them the problem is the room cannot be easily found, Small narrow stairs and no elevator so for guest with heavy luggage you need a help to bring it in narrow stairs. Surrounding is large with garden for kids to play around. Another is if get to the 2nd floor that has low ceiling on the house because of the placement of the roof. I hit my head 4 times after adjusting rhe room heater snd window. Warning to tall guys upstairs. Room has very generououse

Fourth stay here. New ownership. It now totally lacks any a**osphere. Poor reception/concierge who did not lift a finger to help with our luggage. Room very cold and nobody answered the reception phone when I called to ask for some help with the heating. I had to go and find someone and then I had to wait quite a while before I went to find someone to ask. They eventually found an industrial heater for our room. Was not made aware of the fact that the restaurant was only offering an expensive ‘blind’ 5 or 7 course menu. The waiter didn’t know what we would be offered apart from seafood. Thankfully we don’t mind eating seafood. Asked to move our restaurant booking forward by half a hour to give us a bit of time to freshen up after a 5 hour drive but we’re told that this was not possible. The restaurant only had 12 guests and was over half empty! This hotel is quite remote otherwise we would have gone elsewhere to eat had we known there was no menu choices. There was no drinking water in the room. The staff did not really appear happy or that helpful or gave an impression of being happy. We have previously recommended this hotel but would no longer recommend. We will not be staying here again. Couldn’t wait to leave and didn’t bother with breakfast as we didn’t want further disappoin**ent.

WE WERE TRULY LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR MENU GASTRONOMIQUE WHICH ON THE RATINGS HEREIN, SUGGESTED THE PLACE WAS FABULOUS!! AFTER BEING IGNORED FOR THE OBLIGATORY HOUR MY WIFE AND I WERE OFFERED A DRINK AND SINCE IT WAS A BLIND-TASTING MENU THERE WERE NO CHOICES OTHER THAN HOW MANY COURSES? WE CHOSE 5 AND WERE SEATED HALF AN HOUR LATER. THE FIRST COURSE CONSISTED OF A SLIPPERY CONCOCTION OF RAZOR FISH CLAMS, RAW SCALLOPS & MOULE. IN FACT, THE ONLY ADDITIONAL TEXTURE TO BE HAD WAS THE 2" PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT WAS HIDDEN IN THE MEAL. I INFORMED THE MAISTER DE, WHO WAS SUITABLY CONCERNED/CONCERNED/CONCIALITORY BUT I WAS HAPPY TO SIMPLY MOVE ON SUGGESTING THAT SOMEONE COULD HAVE CHOKED ON IT AND BEST INFORM THE KITCHEN BLAH BLAH.. THE SECOND PLATE ARRIVED WITH A SIMILARLY TEXTURELESS GUNK CONSISTING OF MASHED AUBERGIGNE INNARDS TOPPED WITH SOU VIDE GREY MULLET ADORNED WITH SOME SLIPPERY SKIN FOR GOOD MEASURE. NOT EXACTLY FEELING IT BUT LOOKING FORWARD TO BETTER. WE TUCKED INTO A SORBET TO CLEANSE THE PALLET AND LO AND BEHOLD OUR FRIEND THE PLASTIC APPEARED AGAIN. THIS TIME IN THE FORM OF A CLEAR HARD PLASTIC THAT LODGED IN MY THROAT AND HAD ME COUGHING & CHOKING, I KID YOU NOT.... RELIEVED TO HAVE COUGHED IT UP AND SPAT IT ONTO MY PLATE I CONTINUED TO PICK OTHER BITS OF SPIRELLED PLASTIC THAT HAD STUCK IN MY TEETH. ONCE AGAIN THE MAISTRE DE WAS ON HAND TO SHAKE HIS HEAD AND OFFER HIS PERSONAL APOLOGY BUT NOTHING MORE. WE BOTH FELT THAT AT THIS STAGE WE HAD GIVEN IT A CHANCE AND DECIDED TO BACK TO THE GOLF CLUB FOR SOMETHING LESS DANGEROUS TO EAT SUCH AS A BURGER OR SOMETHING AND WERE UTTERLY FLABERGASTED TO BE PRESENTED WITH A BILL FOR THE ENTIRE 5 COURSES INCLUDING ONES WE HADN'T HAD ALONG WITH THE WINE ACCOMPANIMENT WE ALSO HADN'T HAD. DESPITE OUR PROTESTATIONS TO THE MANAGER WE WERE FORCED TO PAY THE BILL EVEN AFTER THE MANAGER WAS MADE TO CALL THE OWNER..

Nicely designed hotel but let down by poor food offering and not hugely helpful customer service. Our suite was not set up for two adults and two children as requested - I had to bring out their confirmation email to us as proof that they had said they would do it. WiFi didn’t work properly in our room and when I asked at reception the same lady just kept telling me with a shrug that her computer worked fine (so did mine in reception, just not in the room!) No food offering for children, no ability to have smaller portions or a child’s menu. We all ate at the golf club hotel down the road instead which was wonderful with great service and delicious food. My husband and I made the terrible decision to order pudding back at the hotel room once our kids were asleep - two tiny bulk purchased puddings, supermarket yoghurt style. Others in our party are a meal in the bar and described it as awful. So much potential here but overall disappointing.

Very nice rooms recently renovated in an old abbey that had been sympathetically brought into the 21C. Excellently restaurant with good service and beautifully cooked food. Whilst the restaurant isn’t cheap it is worth the money and has a lovely terrace ans outlook over the lake. Great wine pairing available with the menus and worth doing.

Très bon souvenir pour ce passage dans cet hôtel. Réceptionniste très accueillante, nous demandant si on avait besoin d'aide pour nos bagages et 2 petites bouteilles d'eau offertes pour notre arrivée. Spa très bien, juste le hammam qui n'était pas assez chaud pour nous (ça je pense que c'est un avis propre à chacun) nous avons donc fait plus de sauna, jacuzzi et douche sensorielle. Chambre très cocooning, peut être la VMC qui a été un peu dérangeante pour moi (car sensible au bruit lors du couché) mais ça m'a finalement pas empêché de passer un très bonne nuit. Et service au restaurant très agréable ainsi que les plats. Merci de nous avoir permis de passer un bon petit weekend !!!

Superbe hôtel à la décoration soignée et tendance. Les chambres sont spacieuses et confortables. Le site est magnifique avec une jolie piscine, un parc et un lac. Nous avons testé le resto avec ses plats découvertes et un régal ! Un resto gastro, un hôtel au top où le personnel est très professionnel, avenant et très sympathique. Allez y les yeux fermés !

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. La chambre, le personnel, l’environnement immédiat étaient parfaits. La piscine est un plus (mais il y a bcp de petites plages à moins de 30’). Le restaurant gastronomique de l’hôtel est très bon, et le chef revendique l’utilisation de produits frais et locaux. Le seul point noir (cailloux dans la chaussure) est le petit déjeuner. Il s’agit d’un petit déjeuner industriel (œufs brouillés, saucisse, pain congelé, charcuterie, fromage, viennoiseries). On aurait aimé un gâteau fait maison, deux variétés de pain frais, des fromages du coin. Et pour les œufs frais, un fournisseur de catégorie 0, plutôt que 3 (le pire du confort pour les poules). Merci quand même !

L acceuil à notre arrivée etait parfait. Le restaurant le soir était tres agréable avec le menue 5 escales et un service au top.
